“By virtue of our steadfast focus on ensuring best quality, reliability, and value for money for our customers, SDLG has emerged as a leading construction machinery brand in India.” Surat Mehta, Head - SDLG Business India

Excavator market of India is poised for growth
While the overall Indian construction equipment market is expected to register robust CAGR numbers in the foreseeable future, excavators will likely emerge the fastest growing product category. The primary reason is the new National Infrastructure Development Plan drawn up by the Government with sharp focus on ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

A sustained public investment in modern infrastructure over the next 25 years will see complete overhaul of Railroads, Airports, Roads, Ports, Waterways, Mass Transportation, and Logistics Infrastructure across the country. This is bound to usher in unprecedented demand for a complete range of earthmoving equipment across segments – from mining and road constructions to urban development and mega infrastructure projects.

Recent improvements and advancements in SDLG excavators
SDLG offers two outstanding products in the 8-ton and 13-ton segments – the E680Fi and E6135Fi hydraulic excavators. These are true ‘growth machines’ designed and purpose-built to dig more for higher productivity and profitability of the customers across a wide range of applications.

Both these excavators feature new-age, power-packed, ECU-controlled engines with multiple filters and work modes to ensure long life and super efficient performance in the most challenging conditions. State-of-the-art load-sensing hydraulic systems embedded in the SDLG excavators make them responsive, efficient, and smooth to operate.

Robust undercarriages with integrated framework and high ground clearances means that the excavators are eminently suitable for a wide variety of urban and rural tasks. An array of optional attachments from ditching bucket and LM bucket to log grapple and top-mounted breaker, render SDLG excavators very versatile and easy to operate.

Every SDLG machine has a head start in environment-friendliness on account of its unmatched fuel efficiency. The 8-ton & 13-ton hydraulic excavators are no exception. They offer best-in-class fuel economy with no compromise on production. In addition, SDLG machines comply with CEV IV emission norms and are capable of running on alternative biodiesel fuel.

SDLG: Encouraging use of alternative materials for construction equipment

Encouraging use of alternative materials like carbon fiber and aluminium
While weight and cost are important considerations in selection of material for construction of equipment, strength and stability are foremost factors to consider. This is because construction equipments are subject to severe stress in daily operations and they need to be sturdy and stable enough to withstand. That said, use of alternative materials like aluminium and carbon fibre should be actively explored to build some parts and attachments with a view to improving overall efficiencies at lower costs and without compromising on the machines’ basic stability and productivity.

Keeping machines in good working order is vital
SDLG has always been at the forefront of initiatives and services that enable customers maximize returns on their investment in SDLG machines. From tailor made customer support agreements to conducting customized training modules to improve machine familiarity to enhancing technical competency of customer operators at their work sites, SDLG offers all possible support to reduce machine downtimes and maintain them in the best condition.

Challenges
The pandemic has turned out to be both a boon and a bane for construction equipment manufacturers in India. While it has opened a floodgate of opportunities for equipment makers, particularly excavator manufacturers (thanks to Government’s renewed focus on infrastructure development), there are serious challenges that the industry faces in terms of supply chain issues, rising input costs, and electronic component shortages.

Managing competition and customer expectations in the highly competitive excavator market in India is never easy, even in the best of times. But, by virtue of our steadfast focus on ensuring best quality, reliability, and value for money, SDLG has emerged a leading construction machinery brand in India so much so that SDLG excavators have become the preferred choice of leading contractors in mining, quarry, roads, railway siding, and ports.
