How does AUTEC SRL’s partnership with DCS Telematik expand its reach into Asian markets?

AUTEC SRL officially began direct operations in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka in 2023 through a strategic partnership with DCS Telematik. This move marks an important step in expanding AUTEC’s presence in the Asian markets. The agreement enables AUTEC and DCS Telematik to directly promote and offer AUTEC’s remote control products, ensuring a stronger focus on sales, service, and support in these key regions. This partnership reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality, reliable solutions and customer service to the growing industrial markets in Asia.

What scope do you see for AUTEC products in the Indian market?

The maritime and mobile hydraulic machinery sectors in India

Although AUTEC products have been present on the Indian market for some time, with our partnership with DCS Telematik, we plan to have a more widespread presence. Our aim is to provide assistance to more and more companies that use or intend to use AUTEC radio controls in India.

India, the most populous country after China, is experiencing an economic growth rate of 7.1% (FY2024). Thanks to the Indian government's "Make in India" initiative and the robust economic growth, the country has emerged as a prime manufacturing hub. This has spurred significant growth in sectors such as construction, logistics, mining, drilling, material handling, steel, cement, and in industrial lifting and automation.

The success of radio remote control business hinges on product pricing and after-sales support. While safety remains a major concern, AUTEC is a globally recognized European brand that not only meets all European standards but is also highly flexible in adhering to local standards, certifications, and regulations specific to each country.

AUTEC and DCS Telematik are exhibiting at bauma India in Hall 5, Stall F01.

What innovations has AUTEC SRL, Italy, made over the years and how has the company evolved?

AUTEC SRL was founded with the aim to bring innovations in remote control through regulation and technology, and to ensure operator safety and high productivity. Established in 1986 the company developed innovative products that were previously unavailable nationally. At that time, regulations regarding industrial remote control were non-existent. The founding partners collaborated with national authorities to establish the first regulations for remote controls in Italy, thereby supporting the principle of safety and ensuring products comply with the highest standards.

The company has consistently prioritized Italy in terms of design and manufacturing, believing that the expertise and know-how of Italian engineers would be key to ensuring the reliability and robustness of its products.

In which sectors are AUTEC remote controls being applied?

Currently, AUTEC remote controls are used in various sectors, including construction, lifting, industry, agriculture, and logistics. The company operates subsidiaries in over 30 countries and offers a wide range of reliable solutions, with customization possibilities thanks to their modular design. Our sales and technical support teams are trained to address customers’ queries.

The company promotes a safety culture and participates in the definition of international technical standards, ensuring compliance through a dedicated department for the development of automated testing systems.

What impact will AUTEC’s presence in the Indian market have for its products and solutions? Which specific sectors are you targeting with the control solutions?

With the support of DCS Telematik, AUTEC is now operating as an independent subsidiary in India. This partnership enables AUTEC to offer localized support in sales and service for both existing and new customers across the region. My 12 years of expertise in the radio remote control industry plays a crucial role in advancing AUTEC’s presence in India.

AUTEC’s expansion into the Indian market will strategically focus on a wide range of sectors, from construction and infrastructure to steel, mining, and maritime industries. AUTEC has already made a significant impact in the maritime and mobile hydraulic machinery sectors in India. Moving forward, the company is poised to become a leading player in fields such as material handling, logistics, and construction cranes.

This is particularly noteworthy, as few radio remote control manufacturers meet European standards while offering such a diverse and comprehensive product range for industrial applications.

In what ways does AUTEC ensure operator safety while enhancing human-machine interaction?

AUTEC designs each product with the operator in mind. The ergonomic structure is studied to allow a comfortable placement of the transmitting unit to the body and a proper placement of hands when operating each actuator. Engineers predict potential unintended activations which could compromise the operator’s safety or risky machine movements. Hence, integration of sensors in the transmitting unit constantly monitor operator movements and communicate them to the machine. For example, Sensor Zero G or IR infrared area allows operators to take action and stop the machine.

The future is already here, autonomous vehicles and smart interactions with machines are just some of the areas where industrial machineries are moving, and AUTEC is preparing to catch the opportunities and become partners with players at the forefront of innovation.

How do you measure the effectiveness and reliability of your safety solution - the Cableless Control System?

AUTEC CCS (Cableless Control Systems) are globally known for the stability of the radio signal. This is a crucial need for all our customers and is fundamental to achieving the highest level of safety and productivity.

Radio frequency communication is made through a certified and "proprietary" AUTEC system. Each remote system uses its own unique code which cannot be reproduced. AUTEC partners confirm the reliability of these systems through long-standing commercial partnerships that offer smooth and long lasting operations while minimizing unintended, non-productive, or risky machine stops.

AUTEC designs and produces industrial remote controls with a level of safety that meets even the strictest of standards. The International “Performance Level” metric is an industry standard that guarantees products are compliant to a specific level of safety and AUTEC aim to ensure the highest level possible, given the application.

How does AUTEC incorporate feedback from its customers into the design and development of its safety systems and what training is provided to operators, customers, distributors, and service centres?

AUTEC growth is rooted in customer feedback, cooperation and in many cases co-development. Our solutions are tailored to the customer needs, in fact customization and fast prototyping are key pillars that put AUTEC as a leading developing partner for potential customers.

We have expanded the portfolio to fit each application, maximizing performance, safety, and ergonomics. For example, display and data-feedback are a must feature nowadays and the trend will command more and more information available for the operator to control real time for better and safer operations on field.

We believe training is crucial to maintain the highest level of performance throughout the years. We train our customers, our distributors and service centres around the world to make sure any new AUTEC product, new technology and also new industry norm is shared within our network. We certify and track the trainings overtime to make sure every partner is always up to date. We are looking to further enhance the information available in our product manuals in order to increase the level of accessibility and get up to speed as quickly as possible.

What factors have positioned AUTEC at the forefront of innovation in the field of remote control?

AUTEC works to be as fast and competent as possible, whether it is for developing a new solution or serving customers with after-sales support. Talent attraction and evolving know-how of our engineering capabilities are key to be at the forefront of innovation and make sure that we drive the industry with modern and new technologies.

We value constant learning and we actively participate in the writing of the Radio Remote Industry norms, both to contribute to a safer working environment, as well as to stay up to date on where the industry is moving.

Our capability to produce internally almost every component and software part of our products allow us to be flexible and fast in adapting to customer needs and commit first-hand on the quality of our solutions.
