Roofing and Cladding India 2007 Report
The 6th edition in “Roof” series of exhibitions, took place in New Delhi from 26 - 28 April 2007, effectively showcased the emerging trends in Roofing and Facade Engineering and concluded with a successful note.
Roof & Cladding India 2007, proved to be an excellent opportunity to shape up the future of business and benefit of all its participants—the visitors, the exhibitors, the speakers, the audience, and the media. In short, the whole gamut of the Asian Roofing & Facade Engineering industry.
Organized by the Chennai–based Unitech Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd, the event was held in association with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), USA, and was also supported by the China National Waterproof Building Materials Industry Association (CNWBMIA), China.
This niche event, was first conceptualized and organized as Roof India 2003 - Asia’s first ever Roofing Technology event in Mumbai, in May 2003. The 2nd edition - Roof Asia 2004 was held at Kuala Lumpur in May 2004. The 3rd edition - Roof India 2005 was held in Mumbai, during May 2005. The 4th and the latest edition Roof & Cladding, Middle East was held in Sharjah (UAE) in May 2006.
With a 2-day concurrent conference, Roof & Cladding India 2007 had over 80 high profile exhibitors from across the globe to make debut of their highly innovative products and over 5000 key visitors, seeking for latest products and technologies for durable roofing and cladding. This event had served as Asia’s key meeting place, bringing together the roofing professionals and buyers and the top national and international builders & contractors.
The national and international companies exhibited at the event showcased the latest in Roofing Systems, architectural cladding, façade engineering, metal building system, pre-engineered building, spaceframe structures, skylight and domes, waterproofing, insulation, tensile membrane, roofing machinery and much more.
Summing up the result of the event Pierre Stolinski from Onduline, Germany said’ “This exhibition is one of the important shows in the construction field for exhibiting our latest product. Last year, we launched the Onduclair Lightening range and today we implement their range in India.” Highly skilled professionals had visited the exhibition with precise questions and require a professional answer. As the commercial results follow, we received a positive response from here.
“We believe to invest in time and in people to work on a long term basis” he added. Elaborating his point, he says "Investing in time because time in construction is basic and in people because construction is far from “virtual world,” and needs facts and figures."
Applicad, the Australian CAD/CAM development company has released and showcased its latest version of the roofing software, V5.1 at the exhibition this year. Applicad claims that the software has evolved from the tried and tested Applicad roof series over the Last 15 years and has been proven in all world market.
Corus Building System Pte Ltd from Singapore had also made debut of its Kalzip range of products that are innovation in aluminium roof and wall cladding systems at the show. Whereas Atex from Interglass, England has exhibited its textile membranes for today’s modern fabric building culture of spectacular shapes and architectural ingenuity where quality, strength, stability, corrosion, and fire–resistance are required.
Leading Indian companies such as Tata Bluescope Steel Ltd, Essar Steel Ltd, Ispat Industries JSW steel Ltd., Kirby Building Systems India Ltd, Lafarge Roofing India Pvt Ltd, Living Steel-International Iron & Steel Institute Mahaphant Fibre-cement (South Asia) Pvt Ltd, Proflex Systems, Sika India Pvt Ltd, Supreme Industries Ltd, Terex India Ltd, UP Twiga Fiberglass Ltd, and so on to name a few have exhibited at this niche international event.
Abbas Saifuddin of Asons Enterprise, summed up the general assessment of the show by saying “The show was well managed and we have launched weld studs[shear connectors] used in metal decking and polytapps self drilling screws used for fixing polycarbonate roofing sheets, here at this event. He further added, Corroshield is well known brand in the entire roofing industry in India and holding above 75% market-share here and hopes to extend further as more enquiries have been received.
According to S. Bhanu Sekar, Executive General Manager and Country Head, Texsa India Ltd “Participating in Roof & Cladding was a rewarding experience for us. It gave us a platform to showcase all our products and systems in the field of waterproofing, thermal insulation and acoustic insulation. In fact the mock-ups we had displayed depicting the total roof system in the case of roof garden, inverted roof insulation and waterproofing, basement waterproofing, shingles etc were highly appreciated by many visitors.”“We received many enquiries from leading construction organization such as ECC, NTPC etc which we are following up. It also gave the opportunities to interact with other manufacturers of other construction materials such as metallic roofing and opened new doors to work together in some projects where each of us can leverage our strength, added Sekar.”One more attractive stall was there of BituNil, which has demonstrated various application systems and different types of membranes suited to different climatic conditions and received many enquiries. According to Mr. Pratap Singh Rautela, Country Manager, BituNil has specially designed APP modified membranes which are suited to Indian climatic conditions as per the specification of CPWD, MES, Metro Railways and many other Government/Public sector organizations.
