Focus on Smart Construction at Japan’s CSPI-EXPO 2026

The 8th International Construction & Survey Productivity Improvement Expo (CSPI-EXPO 2026), held from June 17–20 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan, reinforced its position as one of Asia's leading exhibitions for construction productivity improvement, digital transformation, and smart construction technologies. The four-day event achieved record participation, bringing together 606 exhibitors, including 100 international companies, and attracted 62,209 visitors—up from 57,362 in the previous edition.

Spread across ~60,000 sqm of exhibition space, encompassing both indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, the exhibition expanded to an all-time high of 3,450 booths, providing a comprehensive showcase of next-generation technologies and solutions for the construction and surveying industries.

The exhibition opened with a grand inauguration ceremony featuring a ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by Tetsuya Tani, President & CEO of Shinto Tsushin and Chairman of the CSPI 2026 Executive Committee, along with prominent leaders and representatives from the construction and surveying industries.

Comprehensive Showcase of Next-Generation Technologies

CSPI-EXPO 2026 brought together leading manufacturers, technology providers and solution developers from Japan and overseas to showcase innovations designed to improve productivity, safety, and operational efficiency across the construction sector. The exhibition featured construction machinery, surveying equipment, ICT construction technologies, drones, 3D measurement systems, digital construction solutions, AI, robotics, remote operation technologies, digital twins, BIM/CIM platforms, GNSS positioning systems, and smart construction solutions.

Visitors had the opportunity to experience products firsthand through live demonstrations, interactive exhibits and technology showcases. Large-scale demonstrations in the outdoor exhibition area highlighted the capabilities of advanced equipment under real-world operating conditions, while exhibitor booths remained busy with technical discussions, product presentations and business meetings throughout the event.

Leading companies including Komatsu, Hitachi Construction Machinery, Yanmar, Topcon and Amuse Oneself presented their latest products and digital solutions. Industry supplier Epiroc, together with its partner Maruma Technica Co., Ltd., showcased hydraulic breakers and drum cutters, demonstrating the growing role of collaborative technology partnerships in advancing construction productivity.

Driving Digital Transformation in Construction

Reflecting Japan's ongoing drive towards Construction DX (Digital Transformation) under the Government's i-Construction initiative, the exhibition highlighted how automation, AI, robotics, remote operation and digital technologies are helping address key industry challenges, including labour shortage, an ageing workforce, productivity enhancement, and improved site safety.

Expert-led seminars and technical presentations attracted large audiences, covering topics such as digital transformation, smart construction, labour shortages, sustainable development and emerging construction technologies. These sessions provided valuable insights into industry trends while promoting knowledge exchange among construction professionals.

Enabling Industry Growth and Future Readiness

As a global platform for the exchange of cutting-edge technologies and industry knowledge, CSPI-EXPO facilitated extensive networking, business discussions and new partnerships expected to contribute to the future development of construction and surveying technologies. Construction, civil engineering and surveying professionals from across Japan and overseas, particularly from Asia, created a vibrant business environment.

The final day of the Expo was opened to the general public, students, families, and SMEs. The initiative highlighted the industry's innovation and career opportunities while supporting the development of its future workforce.
