Terex Financial Services to back product off take

Responding to present lukewarm financial support from banking and non-banking financial institutions to back new equipment procurement by rental companies and corporate, owing to volatile rate of returns on margins from projects, Terex Financial Services will assist towards procurement of its new equipment to potential buyers from rental and corporate segments. In an interaction with NBM&CW, top executives from Terex and Terex Financial Services, Mr. Randy S. Williamson, VP-Strategy & Planning, Terex Corporation; Mr. Ramon OliuJr, President; Mr. Doug Moreton, Asia Pacific Director, and Mr. Anirudh Singh, Country Manager, Terex Financial Services India gave an overview of the entity's game plan to finance new equipment while making business viable for customers.

Terex FInance Stall

They further add, "Financial support being rendered for the entire range of Terex's products - backhoe loaders, crushers and screening plants, wheel loaders is offered to customers followed by our own standard precise 'gap analysis,' which thoroughly evaluates the ability of the customers to repay the loan based on the nature of projects where the equipment are deployed. Dealers are given requisite financial training to identify potential customers who need financial support and the nature of financial solutions. The allied deliverables that fit customers' requirements can be offered." Terex's Financial Services presence to back product sales holds importance for the company in the Indian market, especially backhoe loaders, materials processing equipment and cranes on the back drop of company's target to expand its market share on the product lines. It also holds importance for increased targeted future sales for skid steer loaders.

Responding to a query that how the 'viability gap analysis' is able to forecast the ability of the customer to accurately repay the loan in the present scenario owing to volatility in cash flow reported by the customers, based on overall tardy job executions? Officials mention, "Before releasing the loan amount, we carry out viability analysis of the projects, then take into account the business projection of the customers. However, to mitigate risks at both the end, we may ask the customer to get more equity into the business." Although officials admitted that making business viable by the equipment owner is getting increasingly arduous, Terex ensures that customers are able to make their business viable through our quality products supported by our optimum service levels.

Mentioning about the Terex's Financial Services approach to finance crawler and mobile cranes, both being highly capital intensive products to own and operate, coupled by the fact that rental rates are under pressure for the equipment, officials reiterates, "a profitable business model continues to be the prime determining criteria for obtaining financial support towards these high end products from the customers both in India and other global markets of Terex from our financial services entity. Nonetheless, we will offer customers our knowledge support to evaluate the viability of the projects where the newer cranes will be deployed so that they can hedge their debt to a satisfactory extent."

Dokadek 30: Formwork system at its most evolved

A.K. Sharma
Doka India introduced Dokadek 30, which is a new addition to the floor-formwork portfolio. Panel floor formwork Dokadek 30 can be seamlessly combined with Doka's flex and table systems – for getting the optimum match between equipment and task. Dokadek 30 is a beamless hand-set formwork system, designed as a lightweight steel construction with powder-coated frames and rugged Xlife sheets. This panel floor formwork system stands out for safety, ease of handling and high speed, not only during set-up but also during dismantling. "Think about how you're going to take it down even while you're still putting it up - is an old maxim of experienced formwork foremen that Dokadek 30 very much takes to heart. Infill zones are often 'tricky' to form, but Dokadek 30 lets users form these areas within the system too, quickly and safely," remarks Mr. A.K. Sharma, MD, Doka India.

At a spacious 3 m2, the panels are ideally sized for forming large areas, fast. Dokadek 30 has only a small number of separate parts needing shifting. This speeds up the whole forming-operation. The construction workflow is also much faster, as no crane is needed during formwork set-up and removal. Dokadek 30 is erected working from the safety of floor level, with no need to walk on the formwork. The panels' rectangular shape means that it takes users much less effort to engage them in the prop heads and then to tilt them up safely from below, even when forming higher slabs.

Mr. Sharma highlights, "Depending on the requirements, users can opt for Dokadek 30 either without or with drop-heads: simply exchanging the heads and using closure panels turns the standard system into an early-stripping system. Even after very many times of use, the proven Xlife sheet delivers an immaculate concrete finish with a clean, uniform joint pattern."

Meanwhile, the company also showcased the new Floor-slab formwork Dokaflex 15, a lightweight hand-set system for floor-slabs that are between 10 cm and 15 cm thick and have a larger number of downstand beams, as often found in residential construction.

"Doka has developed Dokaflex 15 to take account of the lower weight of this type of slab. The result is a cost-saving formwork solution that is optimised for this area of use, based on the field-proven Doka timber formwork beam H16 and the new Floor prop Eco 15 with a load capacity of 15 kN. Both these basic components are optimally tailored to Dokaflex 15's field of use. This versatile system is an ingenious all-in-one solution for floor-slabs and downstand beams, with only a few different system components – for short forming-times and easy handling on the site," he summarizes.

Mr. B.P. Bharti, Director, Rightvision (India), apprises, "Waste materials such as fly ash harbour a tremendous potential in a country such as India. Considering the mammoth quantities of fly ash churned in our country, LASCO's hydraulic presses are a major boon since they convert this waste into eco-friendly bricks and blocks. What's rather amazing is the fact that waste materials can make up to 60% of the basic brick preparatory material. The machines are extremely robust, compact, have a small overall height and make low demands on the foundation."

Well, it has been observed that despite countrywide abundance of fly-ash, brick makers are rather reluctant to utilize it in their factories. Mr. Bharti offers a reasonable solution by saying, "Huge chunks of fly ash are generated in power plants but the cost of transporting them to the kiln is quite cumbersome. One probable solution is that the government should mandate that Thermal power companies must utilize fly-ash in form or the other, for instance, bricks/blocks within their factory premises itself at least some % of the flyash generated.
