The 30th edition of bauma, the triennial International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles, and Construction Equipment will take place from 15 to 21 April 2013 in Munich. The popularity of the show is expanding at an amazing pace since its inception and has been showing increasing number of exhibitors, visitors and products exhibiting space with each passing event. This year in bauma 2013, over 3,300 exhibitors are expects to display their products and services over an area of 570,000 sqm and over 450,000 visitors are likely to attend the show from across the globe.

During the last bauma, many were not able to attend the show due to flights ban for few days because of volcano ash that engulfed European skylines. So, this time it is expected a record-breaking gathering which has already been testified by the surging number of exhibitors in the waiting list. The demand for exhibition space is going up at an alarming pace and considering that 75,000 sqm of exhibition space has already been increased but still large numbers of exhibitors are in the waiting list.

bauma presents an absolutely comprehensive range of exhibiting space wherein each individual product group is represented clearly by the structured four theme-oriented sectors including Construction Sites, Mining, Extraction and Processing of Raw Materials, Production of Building materials and Components, and service suppliers.

The growth in the construction market worldwide is giving rise to a surge in demand for concrete products, concrete pipes and shafts as well as precast components. This demand is in turn boosting developments among the manufacturers of the machinery and plant that is used to produce these components. At bauma, a whole range of new products made of concrete and other materials will be on show at the booths of systems suppliers and components specialists, across the spectrum from newcomers to market leaders.

As Formwork and scaffolding are an essential part of building and construction, and the systems on offer are already very highly developed and efficient. Yet, again and again, the manufacturers in this segment keep coming up with new ideas and innovations. And the latest of these will be on show.

bauma China 2012

Among the many innovations at this show, a key focus will be on drive technology for mobile construction machinery. In addition, Energy-efficiency and fuel-saving are two of the main trends that will be in the spotlight too.

bauma is not only the leading international event for construction machinery, building material machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment – it is also the world's biggest trade fair for mining machinery. It has become an important business platform where the mining sector features a growing number of exhibitors and an increasingly international range of exhibits and simultaneously provided outstanding opportunities for networking and boosting business prospects.

Moreover, the organizers also arrange forums (international communication platforms) where exhibitors, trade associations and business partners can present the latest product developments, trends and comprehensive overview of the current market scenario. To tackle the ongoing shortage of engineers in the industry, a new forum THINK BIG is started with an objective to generate interest in the coming generation to shape up their future by joining the construction machinery and building-materials machines industry.

For this edition, bauma has chosen Indonesia as the partner country. The country's building industry is booming and in the raw materials sector, too, major investment is scheduled for the mid-term – all of which are good reasons why bauma focused more closely on this economic region and the exciting opportunities it offers for the future.

The nominations for the bauma Innovation Award 2013, which is being presented as part of bauma, were already announced at the press conference held at the bauma Media Dialog in January in Munich. The award is divided into five categories i.e Machinery, Machinery components, Construction process/Construction work, Research and Design. Out of a total of 156 submissions from Germany and abroad, the jury selected three groundbreaking innovations per category to go through to the final round. Most of the new developments will also be on show at bauma.

bauma is currently at the peak of its excellence as it is not just exceeding in terms of the quantity, but also the quality of participants who are the decision makers. The show gives opportunities to visitors to experience the presentation of various innovative and new developments that are going to be introduced in the show for the first time. Besides, it provides a unique atmosphere to participants to cultivate and strengthen their business ties by inking new contacts thereby pushing their business to newer heights.

The new model incorporates specially optimized Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology for the first time. This is packaged separately from the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) module, giving OEMs greater installation flexibility in the engine bay. Space saving is further enhanced through the absence of a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

Performance from the 854F-E34TA has been boosted to 90 kW (121 hp) while the 8 percent improvement in specific fuel consumption (SFC) gained at Stage IIIB/Tier 4 Interim has been retained. Heat rejection remains similar to its predecessor meaning no major changes to the size of the cooling pack, helping to maintain the engine's compact dimensions.

Alongside the 854F-E34TA, models on display include the single turbo 1206F-E70TA, which for OEMs wanting lots of torque at low speed, offers up to 151 kW (202 hp) at 2200 rpm with maximum torque of 870 Nm at 1400 rpm. In developing the 1200 Series Perkins sought to minimize the impact of the aftertreatment required to meet Stage IV/Tier 4 Final requirements, in particular the significant reduction in NOx. Perkins has achieved this through packaging the DOC / DPF canister and the SCR system into one integrated module, which can be positioned remotely in a machine chassis or directly on top of the engine.

Manitou

Manitou will display its three-in-one Rotative Telescopic Handler MRT Series which according to a company is a crane, a telehandler and a platform. Besides this, the company will feature its new M-series rough terrain forklift M30 + M50 and also Gehl V400 and Mustang 4000V Skid Loader at its booth.

Manitou Crane
The MRT-Series is the most versatile telehandler on the market, offering rotation and 3-in-1 versatility for multiple applications. The MRT Series of rotating telehandlers will lift loads, or personnel, to heights from 68 to 80 feet (14 to 30 meters). Loads from 8,800 to 10,000 pounds are easily handled by these versatile machines. The wide range of attachments available, and the 360° rotation, makes the MRT the right choice for industrial maintenance, structural work, and other jobs around your construction site.

The machine now comes with a Mercedes engine and an attachment recognition system to make the changing of attachments easier. It now also comes with an automatic stabilization pattern that reads the terrain and automatically creates the most stable base in setting the stabilizers. In addition, it now also has a new color display monitor and a see-through roof that lets operators always see the boom as they work.

MANITOU M-Series masted forklifts were designed from the ground up as a true rough terrain lift truck. Operator comfort and easy maintenance were priority issues considered during development. The M- Series is available in many configurations to provide its customers the correct machine. MANITOU Semi-Industrial ranges are a smaller version that offers excellent handling and compact maneuverability, unbeatable traction, unequalled comfort, and easy maintenance. This range is the ideal choice for applications that demand more than the average industrial lift truck.

With world premieres in the H, HD+ and HD CompactLine product families, Hamm rounds out its range of high-quality vibratory compactors and tandem rollers. Efficiency is the keyword for the future of compaction technology. The new MOBICAT EVO line of mobile jaw crushers sets new standards in the contractor market. The three world premieres from Kleemann boast high efficiency and versatility.

Wirtgen Group MC110

In line with its theme "Innovative Solutions for Road and Mineral Technologies" –the Wirtgen Group is showing not only world premieres, but also an impressive cross-section of its full-service portfolio. The dimensions of Wirtgen Group's trade show stand are equally as impressive. The total area has increased considerably since bauma 2010; in fact, the Wirtgen Group has the third-largest exhibition space at bauma 2013. As if that were not enough, the stand has even grown vertically: visitors can discover the Wirtgen Group world on two levels for the first time in 2013. While the hardware is on display on the ground floor in the product area and technology centers, customers can experience the Wirtgen Group's other services on the second floor. From application consulting/training and financial solutions to customer service, visitors learn here how the Wirtgen Group lives up to its pledge "close to our customers"every day.

Experts for the Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm and Kleemann brands, and from the 55 sales and service companies worldwide, will be on hand at bauma 2013 to answer any questions surrounding road and mineral technologies.

BOMAG

At bauma, BOMAG will feature innovations and world premieres in each of its business sectors - Light Equipment, Asphalt and Soil Compaction - as well as with specialist machines. Under the watchword "City Action" visitors to the BOMAG demo areas can gauge the robustness, ergonomics and handling features of the full model line-up in the tamper range plus other BOMAG light equipment units – all of them being ideally suited for use on inner-city sites. Among others, the company will introduce the optimized dark "faced" BPR reversible plates equipped for the toughest site conditions. Also it will launch three new tamper models BVT 65, BT 65, and BT 60 which are designed to meet the toughest site demands and are set to become the latest BOMAG standard-setting units to hit the market.

bauma 2013 has also been chosen for the world premiere of the new series 5 articulated tandem rollers in the weight class 6 - 8 t. These compact, user-friendly, economical and manoeuvrable rollers are designed for small to medium size job sites. bauma will also see the world premiere of the new BF 900 C finisher, whose new auger and scraper chain drives allow high volumes of asphalt to be conveyed and spread smoothly and efficiently.

Bomag 01d BF 900 C

The BOMAG earthworks division has a number of innovations on offer as well! The highlight is the new generation of single drum rollers in the 5 – 8 t class, which will be on show for the first time. These highly compact and economical machines meet the toughest requirements for compaction, gradeability, and efficiency.

BOMAG is also going to launch the new MPH 600 with its unique FLEX MIX Technology. In addition, the company is showing the new additive spreader series including the flagship model BS 160000 PROFI with 16 m3 capacity and fully automatic metering control.

Kaiser

Kaiser will present its innovatively designed new S-Line mobile excavators at bauma Germany-13 which has also been nominated for bauma Innovation Award 2013. Rounded bodywork, enhanced ergonomics and optimised optional equipment not only create visual harmony but also ensure a significant increase in driver comfort.

The new generation of walking mobile excavators reveals a consistent focus on dynamic and at the same time functional design of every element of the vehicle – whether it's the cab interior, the field of vision inside and out of the cab or the positioning of the heating and air-conditioning system. The cab and superstructure form a single unit which in turn harmonises with the vehicle as a whole. The new design is based on the principle of a compact radius excavator, offering outstanding all-round visibility of the entire working zone. The driver has a direct view of each of the excavator's pads from the cab.

Integration of the new, significantly more powerful drive and cooling system called for innovative technological concepts and presented a major challenge in the design phase. When it came to developing and designing the new walking mobile excavators, KAISER benefited from the excellent collaboration between its own development team and established industrial designers from the firm "Design Department" based in Linz, Austria.

Kaiser

Walking mobile excavators are built for deployment in arduous and inaccessible terrain. The driver commonly spends more time on the job compared with other construction sites. For that reason the cab has been specially conceived with the needs of the user in mind. The ergonomic layout of the extensive range of functions has been chosen to greatly facilitate the work of the driver.

The large, dynamically designed air suction and exhaust vents provide an immediate clue to the performance class of the new S-Line. The new models are equipped with the powerful COM IIIB engine which meets future requirements of the EU vehicle emissions standard. Due to their lower centre of gravity, the new vehicles in the KAISER S-Line boast even greater stability on extreme slopes.

The main innovation of the new S-Line is the revolutionary hydraulic system ELIS by KAISER (Electronic Load Independent System). ELIS is currently unique in the field of walking mobile excavators. Performance and efficiency can greatly be increased through an intelligent automatic control system. Technical details will be revealed at the official presentation of the new excavator generation at bauma Munich.

BAUER Maschinen GmbH

BAUER Maschinen GmbH which has been continually expanding its products range over recent decades will present together with all its subsidiaries the broadest offer in the specialist foundation engineering equipment sector at bauma.

Bauer Dril
Bauer will launch its new Value Line and Premium Line classification of BG drilling rigs. The Value Line is optimized for kelly drilling. The Premium Line, as the name suggests, is a high-end range incorporating multifunction rigs for a wide variety of applications and can be extended from BG 12 to BG 50. It enables all rotary drilling techniques to be implemented, including kelly drilling with and without a casing oscillator, the classic CFA system and CCFA drilling, as well as soil displacement pile drilling. The Premium Line rigs can also be used without any problem to carry out all kinds of ground improvement techniques, such as cutter soil mixing, single or multiple soil mixing, or deep vibration. They can also be fitted with BC trench cutters. This makes the rigs suitable as a platform for all commonly employed specialist foundation engineering techniques, and enables them to adapt to a wide variety of different soil types based on a broad range of tools.

The company will also present the latest version of the BC series trench cutter, the BC 35. Mounted on a BAUER MC 96 cable excavator with a rotation mechanism, it is capable of 58 metres cutting depth without rotation and 48 metres with rotation. Designed to meet specific on-site requirements, the BC 35 trench cutter is the successor to the tried and proven BC 32 model, though featuring a cutter frame extended to 12 metres. On this new model, the steering flaps on the cutter frame are farther apart and larger. This provides better and more precise steering, even in soft soil.

Besides, Bauer Maschinen subsidiary RTG Rammtechnik GmbH is going to present a number of new developments including RT 21 T and RM 20 rigs. New products are once again being presented by KLEMM Bohrtechnik GmbH with its anchor drilling rigs and jet-grouting systems. MAT Mischanlagentechnik GmbH will present its suspension mixers and treatment plants, while PRAKLABohrtechnik GmbH will present a deep drilling rig designated RB-T 90.
