bauma China: Despite slowdown CE industry is Intact

bauma china

Despite a slowing down in the pace of economic growth, bauma China 2012- the sixth edition of the International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Construction Vehicles and Equipment that held in Shanghai, has once again proved itself as a veritable "hot spot" for the construction equipment industry. The fair had a record-breaking number of exhibitors All in all, 2,718 exhibitors from 38 countries (2010: 1,858 exhibitors from 37 countries) took part in this edition which represents an increase of 46 percent whereas around 180,000 visitors (2010: 155,615 visitors) attended the show which is an increase of 16 percent from previous year. For the first time ever, bauma China occupied all of the exhibition space – a total of 300,000 square meters. This is 30 percent more than the last one. Hence, the show proved its success all the ways by having more visitors, more exhibitors, and more exhibition space.

Commenting on this success, Eugen Egetenmeir, Managing Director of Messe München, who was very much satisfied from the show, said that "bauma China braved all market tendencies. In this respect, it was held just at the right time. The show once again proved to be the key business platform for companies to tap into the Chinese market, as well as Greater Asia."

Zhichao Chen, Marketing Director at SANY Heavy Industry, confirms the excellent atmosphere at the show and said "bauma China brings us a tremendous amount of purchase orders. This trade show always has the same objective with its exhibitors: to expand and grow together."

Sam Cooper, Global Marketing Services Manager at Caterpillar stated, "Caterpillar is proud to have been a part of bauma China 2012. This show provided us a wonderful opportunity to connect with our customers and demonstrate our commitment to the China market. We are very pleased with the number of customers who visited and the interest generated from our display."

We consider bauma China one of the most important exhibitions in the Far East and Australasia regions, and we plan to participate again in 2014."

Overwhelmed with the show progress, Xuehong Guo, Vice President, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co., Ltd., China said, "Over the past decade, we have always attended bauma China and have witnessed its continual growth. We can say that bauma China has become the world's second largest trade show for the construction machinery industry, surpassing Intermat and the CONEXPO in Las Vegas. It has proved competent in exhibition space, visitors as well as services. Although the construction market has been in a downturn since last year, there are still large numbers of exhibitors and visitors here this year. bauma China is improving in all kinds of aspects."

With a total number of 1,837 exhibitors, China again provided the largest contingent of exhibitor participation. However, never before have so many international companies participated in bauma China. After China, the top five exhibitor countries were Germany (172), Italy (122), the US (116), Korea (67) and Japan (49). Whereas the top ten visitor countries and regions after China were Russia, Korea, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Turkey – in that order. Besides, bauma China also had eight national pavilions, namely Austria, Germany, Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Korea, Spain, the US and – for the first time – a joint stand of exhibitors from Incheon City, organized by the Incheon Chamber of Commerce in Korea.
