NHAI takes over ₹500-cr Kullu-Naggar-Manali Left Bank Road project

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken over the construction work of double-lanning the 38-km long Kullu-Naggar-Manali left bank road from the state Public Works Department (PWD). The project, which will involve an investment of ₹500 crore, has been entrusted to Lion Engineering Consultants in association with the Synergy Engineers Group of Bhopal for the preparation of the DPR. The PWD provided the details and particulars of the existing road to the NHAI.

The Central Government will now provide the entire budget for the project, which was previously constructed under the State Road Project Tranche-II and funded by the World Bank. The road will be upgraded to match national highways standards with the addition of flyovers and bridges. The upgrade will begin from Ramshila in Kullu and end in Manali. Upon completion, the traffic moving from Manali to Kullu will be diverted through the left bank, reducing congestion on the right bank of the highway and promoting tourism in the left bank region of the hill state.
