Haryana to Widen 3,240 km of Roads to 18 Feet by March 2027

Chairing a review meeting on Haryana Vision 2047, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) to expedite the road widening programme and ensure high construction quality across all projects.
Haryana currently has 3,240 km of 12-foot-wide link roads identified for widening. Of this, work on 1,696 km is already underway, while the remaining 1,544 km will be taken up during the current financial year.
The Chief Minister also directed the department to provide proper road signage, berms and road markings, including white edge lines, on all upgraded roads to enhance safety and driving conditions.
The road widening programme is expected to improve connectivity across rural and urban areas, support economic activity and strengthen Haryana’s transport infrastructure network. The state government has set March 2027 as the deadline for completing the entire 3,240-km road expansion project.
