Nitin Gadkari Reviews Maintenance of 4,178 km National Highways in Assam

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed the quality and maintenance progress of 4,178 km of National Highway projects in Assam during a high-level meeting in New Delhi.

The review was conducted following feedback received through media and social media and was attended by Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra, along with officials from National Highways Authority of India, NHIDCL, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and project contractors.

Gadkari emphasised the need to accelerate on-ground execution, strengthen quality monitoring systems and adopt modern construction practices to improve road durability and riding quality.

He also directed officials to enhance monsoon preparedness through improved drainage systems, slope protection measures and rapid response mechanisms to minimise disruptions and ensure commuter safety on key highway corridors in Assam.
