NHAI takes up Rs.4,000 cr road projects

In a bid to help the state government to improve its road network, the Centre has accorded an in-principle nod to take over the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project with a length of 330 km costing around Rs.4,000 crore, R&B Engineer-in-Chief P Ravinder Rao said that the move means the State would have no additional burden in creating the roads and they would be taken up by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Now, since the Central government has given its nod of approval towards taking up the project, the cost of land acquisition, one of the costliest aspects of laying new roads, would be borne by the Central government on par with national highways. Officials from the department also said that once the RRR was completed, those travelling from Pune to Vijayawada can take RRR at Sangareddy and directly reach Choutuppal. As of now, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared and once it is completed it would be handed over to the Central government for further action. While the northern part covers 163 km road passing from Sangareddy to Choutuppal across Toopran, Gajwel, Jangaon, Bhongir and Choutuppal. Also, they would have information about the 183-km southern corridor from Choutuppal, Ibrahimpatnam, Kadthal, Shadnagar, Chevella, Kandi which culminates at Sangareddy.
