Dubai has completed its first air taxi station near Dubai International Airport, marking a major step toward launching electric air mobility services later this year.

The facility, designed for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, spans 3,100 square metres and includes two landing pads, aircraft charging systems, a multi-level parking area and climate-controlled passenger spaces. It is expected to handle around 170,000 passengers annually.

Developed by Skyports Infrastructure in partnership with Roads and Transport Authority, the project forms part of Dubai’s broader urban air mobility network. Joby Aviation is set to develop and operate the aircraft for the service.

Authorities said the air taxi service could significantly reduce travel time, with journeys such as from the airport to Palm Jumeirah expected to take around 10 minutes, compared to about 45 minutes by road.

The project is aimed at enabling traffic-free urban transport and supporting Dubai’s push towards sustainable and advanced mobility solutions.
