Mining Expo IMME 2008

Responding to the business opportunities and the current initiatives of the Government of India in the Mining Sector, the 9th International Mining & Machinery Exhibition (IMME'08) is expected to surpass all previous records of exhibitor participation–more than 100 percent increase in the size of the show. Over 300 exhibitors from 15 countries will be showcasing the latest products and technologies in an area of 50,000 sqmtrs of indoor and outdoor space at this international event scheduled from 5thto 8thNovember, 2008 at the Salt Lake Stadium Grounds, Kolkata, India. The special focus, this time, is on mining construction, material handling, and mineral processes.

Out of the total participation, 54% are first time participants, and this includes major global equipment and machinery manufacturers, covering 35% of the total exhibition space. A number of new products for the Mining Construction and Mineral processing sector are to be launched during the Exhibition.
The event is supported by International Organisations like, VDMA Germany, ABMEC, UK, Austrade, USIS, Polish Embassy in India, besides 20 national and international publications in the mining sector. Information on IMME 2008 is also publicized through a number of international business portals. The organizers have developed a dedicated website for IMME 2008 – www.immeindia.com to share detailed information including products on display, name of exhibitors, layout plan, etc. with potential visitors. Business visitors from around 25 countries have already registered online for IMME 2008. Over 20,000 business visitors, besides a large number of government officials and media personnel are expected to visit the IMME 2008 in Kolkata. Fixing of online business meetings has also been facilitated through the event website.

"Global Mining Summit" – a two day international summit is also planned concurrently with the IMME 2008. Experts and prominent speakers from the industry, government and academia, from India and overseas will address the summit, to be attended by over 350 delegates.

In addition to the Summit, a "Buyer Seller Meet" is also being planned, where manufacturers and service providers will be making special presentations to the potential buyers in the mining sector.
Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry, in association with the Ministry of Mines, Ministry of Coal, Government of India, and Coal India Limited and is supported by the Department of Transport, Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of West Bengal, IMME 2008–the four days international exhibition and Summit–is expected to be the largest ever mining event held in India.
