Providing detail features of the new range of elevators to MGS Architecture, Mr. Neeraj Sharma, MD, Kone Elevators India Pvt ltd says, “The new gearless elevators, apart from being energy-efficient are complemented by a wide range of upgrades that have been designed to deliver ride comfort, a new motor control system, renewed braking system, a redesigned hoisting system and an improved car structure. One vital improvement- A comprehensive test for ride comfort, is now conducted on every Kone elevator. This test ride is a new service rendered by Kone to the elevators industry.”

Banking on Service Support

The new range of elevators priced at premium, will be promoted to the niche markets involving upcoming metro, airport and commercial and residential projects. Mr. Sharma informs, “The new range of elevators which score high on safety as well as rider comfort are suited not only for handling higher volumes of traffic, but also for airport and mass transit projects. We intend to promote our products backed by turnkey service support from planning to the commissioning stage and thereafter through necessary coordination with the contractors in carrying out the passenger traffic calculations and for designing the elevators accordingly. While post commissioning, we support the machine by providing annual maintenance contract services, parts support along with undertaking necessary modifications in the machines to handle enhanced load based on future requirements.”

Kone has supplied its passenger elevators to pase-1 and 2 projects of Delhi Metro Railway Corporation. It has also supplied its elevators to the modernized Mumbai International Airport. The size of Indian elevators market is estimated to be 40,000 units.

Kone has its manufacturing facility in Chennai along with 40 branch offices. Apart from India, the factory produces elevators for Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The production unit also manufactures components for modernization projects for other Asian Pacific markets such as Australia, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia. The Chennai plant also has a training centre to render training education to Kone’s service engineers involved in installing and maintaining the elevators.
