JK Tyre enters Limca Book of Records with India’s Largest OTR Tyre
JK Tyre and Industries Limited has entered the prestigious Limca Book of Records with the country’s largest off-the-road tyre - VEM 045. Launched in 2014, the 40.00-57 VEM 045 stands 12 ft. tall and weighs around 3.4 tons. The distinct size of the tyre was specifically introduced for India’s biggest rigid dump-truck that has a payload capacity of upto 240 tons.
Commenting on the achievement Vikram Malhotra, Marketing Director, JK Tyre and Industries, said “JK Tyre has been at the forefront of driving innovation in the Indian tyre industry. JK Tyre offers a comprehensive product range in the OTR (off-the-road) segment with highly efficient and performance-oriented tyres in various sizes for the Industrial and Mining segments.
The company has a global presence in 100 countries, with 12 plants - 9 in India and 3 in Mexico, which together have a capacity of about 35 million tyres per annum. In April 2016, JK Tyre acquired Cavendish India Limited from Birla Tyres, thereby adding three modern plants to its portfolio and taking the total count to 12 and marking a major foray into the two/three-wheeler segment as well. In 2018, the company inaugurated its Raghupati Singhania Centre of Excellence in Mysore.
