To attract 1250+ exhibitors, 350+ foreign players; 70,000+ business visitors
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced the 10th edition of EXCON - South Asia’s largest construction equipment trade fair, to be held in Bengaluru from December 10-14, 2019.
The flagship initiative of CII in the construction equipment sector Excon-19 was launched during an Interactive Session by Nagendra Nath Sinha, IAS, Chairman, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in the presence of Vipin Sondhi, Chairman, CII Trade Fair Council & Chairman, Excon 2019 and Sandeep Singh, President, Indian Construction Equipment Manufactures’ Association (iCEMA),
With the theme, “Smart i-Tech – Next Gen India@75”, Excon 2019 will demonstrate the role of smart technologies and innovation in design in the manufacture of Nextgen construction equipment and machinery to support the rapid pace of infrastructure development in the country. The 5-day international exhibition will be spread across a display area of 3,00,000 sqm, and is set to attract over 1250 exhibitors including 350+ overseas companies from 25 countries including China, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Turkey, UK and USA among others, and over 70,000 business visitors from India and abroad.
Nagendra Nath Sinha commented, “It is very heartening to know that EXCON came into existence when the highway sector was growing. Today, growth of the Construction Equipment Industry and the Highway Development programme is progressing parallelly. With government initiatives like the ‘Bharatmala, Pradhan Mantri gram sadak yogna, Smart Cities etc, the construction equipment and allied sectors are set to grow at an even faster pace.”

He gave an assurance that tenders will also be given based on selection of the equipment, and a new model of business in roads will be developed soon. Moreover, a new initiative will be taken for hiring small contractors to lease their equipment on NHAI projects. “If you talk about the investment in the infrastructure sector, it will be Rs.100 lakh crore over the next 5 years. The numbers tell you the growth in the construction and infrastructure sector. What is very heartening to note is that the sector is employing and emphasizing on the interconnectedness of the equipment that they are putting together,” he said.
Disruptive and smart technologies are rapidly transforming the way infrastructure is being built and operated, hence this year, the show is themed ‘Smart i-Tech – Next Gen India@75’ as acceleration of Infrastructure Construction is at the heart of Excon,” said Vipin Sondhi, and added, “Excon has been a trusted brand internationally and the steady increase in the number of international companies reposing faith on the brand is the right indicator that the Construction Equipment Industry is poised for exponential growth. Development of world-class infrastructure will lead to 9-10 percent growth of the Indian economy and India is also expected to become the third largest construction market globally by 2022”.
“Today most of the construction equipment is made in India. All International manufacturers and vendors are located in India and EXCON is the place where we will all get together. This year, we are going to focus on technology, especially AI and IoT among others,” said Sandeep Singh.
As part of the 10th year celebrations of EXCON, CII will organize special activities like celebrating Women in Infrastructure, and there will be exclusive pavilions for showcasing AI, IoT, Robotics, besides Startups, Components & Parts; Job Fairs, Contests for School Children, Tree Plantation Day, and Green Rating of CE Industry.
Excon 2019 endeavors to build India’s infrastructure in an ecologically sustainable manner, enable projects on Smart Cities, support Swachh Bharat programs, promote Skill Development, and position Make In India as the National Agenda for achieving holistic growth in infrastructure and related sectors. Excon will be an ideal platform to connect all stakeholders, including policymakers, investors, and developers, with the exciting growth story of India’s infra development.

Over the last 9 editions, the event has grown into one of the topmost construction equipment exhibitions in this part of the world. Excon addresses both marketing and educational platforms. Government and senior bureaucrats have capitalised it as a knowledge platform for various departments (like the PWD and Civil Engineering), and for Private Contractors, Builders, Road & Infrastructure Developers, Smart City/Urban Planning, Army, Border Roads Organisation, etc. who will witness the latest Technology, Equipment and Machinery display, which will meet the accelerated Infrastructure development needs of the nation.
