Infrastructure Project
The Tripura government has readied plans to build roads and allied infrastructure projects worth ₹12,000 crore, informed CM Biplab Kumar Deb. His government would renovate NH-8 and build new roads in the rural heartland. The state plans to invest ₹4,900 crore on NH-8 and the tendering process is currently underway. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has already sanctioned ₹1,600 crore for development of cities and towns under the state's urban development department program. The Agartala city is also being developed under the Smart Cities Mission. In the next two years, initiatives will be taken to develop more infrastructure. In April, the state administration will start construction of a bridge over the Feni river and make South Tripura district a business hub. Plans are afoot for setting up SEZ and business centres to boost trade ties with neighboring countries.
