What do you think will drive competitiveness in the current fast growing CE market?

India’s construction equipment market has witnessed remarkable growth, driven by large-scale infrastructure projects, urban expansion, and the government’s strong focus on logistics, transportation, and energy corridors. The sector is also experiencing increasing global integration, digital transformation, and stricter regulatory frameworks under latest emission norms and safety standards.

At Tata Hitachi, we see the market moving from a purely price-driven ecosystem to one focused on productivity, reliability, and lifecycle value. Competitiveness in this new landscape will be defined by technology leadership, customer-centricity, operational efficiency, and sustainability. Continuous investment in digitalization, connected equipment, and cost optimization will be key to addressing evolving customer expectations and enhancing value delivery.

What is the company’s export strategy?

Tata-Hitachi
Tata Hitachi’s strength lies in its ability to combine Japanese technology from Hitachi Construction Machinery, Japan with a deep understanding of Indian operating conditions. We are leveraging this partnership to enhance manufacturing excellence, product quality, and technological integration.

Our export strategy focuses on expanding in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, where Indian-built equipment is well accepted for its robustness and cost efficiency. The company is continuously strengthening export-oriented manufacturing capabilities, improving supply chain agility, and aligning with global standards of performance and safety.

What measures does Tata Hitachi take to bring energy efficiency, recycling, and waste utilization in its manufacturing processes?

We have implemented several initiatives in waste recycling, water conservation, and green manufacturing, while our equipment line-up is evolving to comply with the latest emission standards and improve fuel efficiency.

Over 80% of our manufacturing energy requirements are met by renewable sources, reflecting our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint. Our facilities are pursuing a three-pronged approach: waste elimination, process efficiency, and adoption of energy-efficient technologies.

We believe that the construction industry can contribute to India’s net-zero target by adopting cleaner fuels, electrified equipment, re-manufacturing programs, and digital monitoring solutions that optimize machine performance and minimize environmental impact. We have showcased our battery electric and tethered electric excavators in past exhibitions like EXCON and Bauma CONEXPO. Going forward, these machines will find greater space in our product line-up.

How does the company promote inclusivity, diversity, and skill development within its workforce and dealers?

At Tata Hitachi, we believe that people are our strongest foundation, and have, therefore, instituted a range of initiatives to foster diversity, inclusivity, and continuous learning.

Our skill development programs through Operator Training Centres (OTCs) and partnerships with ITI institutions and local communities, equip youth and women with employable skills in equipment operation and maintenance. Within the organization, we promote diversity through structured hiring practices and leadership development for women employees.

Across our dealer network, we support capability-building programs to enhance technical, managerial, and customer engagement skills, creating a more empowered and inclusive ecosystem.
