Hafeez Khan, Managing Director
Amid India’s accelerating infrastructure and industrial growth, and the resultant increase in demand for construction equipment, what strategies is Manitou adopting to strengthen its competitiveness in this dynamic market?
India’s infrastructure expansion, spanning expressways, urban housing, industrial corridors, and renewable energy projects, has created a strong demand for not only robust machines but also for technologically advanced, fuel-efficient, and multi-utility equipment that can deliver higher productivity with lower ownership costs. Particularly in material handling and earthmoving, customers are seeking solutions that combine versatility, reliability, and intelligent control systems to suit diverse applications and project environments.Manitou sees this as an opportunity to accelerate growth in India through a dual strategy: local innovation and global excellence. Our focus is on strengthening our Made-in-India range under Bharat Stage V norms, introducing world-class products such as telehandlers, backhoe loaders and skid loaders designed for Indian working conditions. We are expanding our dealer network, improving after-sales reach, and investing in customer training and telematics-based service support to maximize machine uptime.
Manitou is also enhancing its customer engagements through financing partnerships, rental solutions, and product demonstrations that showcase total lifecycle value. With India moving toward mechanization across agriculture, infrastructure, and warehousing, Manitou aims to be at the forefront by offering smart, durable, and efficient machines.

How is Manitou leveraging its international expertise, technology transfer, and local capabilities to deliver high-performance, cost-efficient machines tailored to Indian project conditions?
Manitou’s strength lies in harmonizing global technology leadership with local manufacturing excellence. Our India operations play a pivotal role in delivering machines that are globally benchmarked yet tailored to regional requirements. Through continuous technology transfer from our European R&D centers, we integrate proven engineering standards, advanced hydraulics, and safety features into products manufactured locally at our modern plant in Greater Noida. We understand that India’s diverse geography and project conditions demand adaptability. Hence, our machines—like the MXT telehandler series and MBL backhoe loaders—are locally optimized for fuel efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and ease of maintenance without compromising on global performance standards.
Localization is not limited to production; it extends to supplier development, component sourcing, and technical skill-building within India. Manitou also leverages its global digital systems to improve diagnostics, telematics monitoring, and predictive maintenance, ensuring consistent performance even in remote job sites.
By combining international expertise with a deep understanding of local customer needs, Manitou offers a unique value proposition—machines engineered for India, supported by the world. This synergy not only enhances our market competitiveness but also contributes to India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision of self-reliant, globally connected manufacturing.
With India’s infrastructure expanding across roads, tunnels, railways, and power projects, how is Manitou diversifying its product portfolio, and bringing innovations and improved services to the Indian market?
Manitou is actively diversifying its product portfolio to serve multi-sectoral requirements. We are extending our offerings beyond backhoe loaders to include telehandlers, access platforms, and compact loaders, machines that enhance versatility and site efficiency.Innovation drives this diversification. Our new BSV-compliant telehandlers (MXT 840, MXT 1740, MXT 840 Industrial), Backhoe loaders (MBL 745HT, MBL 745HT+, MBL 745HT Ranger), Skid Steer Loaders (1640R, 1800R) and Electric scissor lifts (SE 0808, SE 1008) exemplify our push toward clean technology and performance optimization. These machines are designed for improved maneuverability, energy efficiency, and operator comfort—key parameters for demanding Indian job sites.
Manitou also emphasizes digital transformation through connected machines, remote monitoring, and data-driven service support. This improves decision-making, predictive maintenance, and overall productivity. On the sustainability front, our focus is clear—reducing emissions, minimizing waste, and promoting energy-efficient operations throughout the product lifecycle.
Our training and customer engagement programs ensure safe and skilled equipment usage, contributing to project efficiency and environmental responsibility. Our aim is to deliver performance, safety, and support that keep operations running efficiently and sustainably with solutions designed to bring maximum productivity and lifecycle value for customers.
What steps are being taken by the company to optimize resource utilization, and support sustainable infrastructure development?

A key differentiator is our myManitou app, which provides customers with real-time access to machine health, service alerts, and operating insights. This digital platform helps fleet owners track utilization, optimize fuel efficiency, and schedule preventive maintenance, ensuring higher uptime and lower ownership costs. In fact, sustainability is embedded across our value chain—from eco-friendly production processes and material recycling to optimizing logistics and reducing waste generation.
We are also investing in remanufacturing and circular economy initiatives, ensuring that components are reused and refurbished to extend machine life and reduce carbon footprint. Training operators on efficient machine handling further supports resource optimization and safety compliance.
