Knauf India Launches ‘Drystar’ Drywall Solution for Moisture-Prone Environments

Engineered for interior dry construction systems exposed to high humidity and intermittent water contact, Drystar is a fibre-reinforced gypsum board featuring a moisture-resistant glass-fleece surface and a specially developed gypsum core. The solution is designed to resist mould growth, minimise water absorption, and maintain long-term structural performance.
According to the company, Drystar offers water absorption of less than 3% and high resistance to mould. Classified under EN 15283-1 as GM-FH1IR, the board provides enhanced fire performance, improved strength, increased surface hardness, and reduced water absorption. It also carries an A2-s1,d0 fire classification, making it a non-combustible building material suitable for projects requiring stringent fire safety standards.
Commenting on the launch, Sumit Bidani, CEO, Knauf India, said that modern construction increasingly demands materials that address durability, moisture management, hygiene, fire safety, and sustainability. He noted that Knauf Drystar combines superior mould and moisture resistance with the speed and efficiency of dry construction systems, enabling developers, architects, and contractors to build with greater confidence.
Knauf Drystar is suitable for a wide range of applications, including residential and commercial washrooms, hotels, spas, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, shopping centres, balconies, covered walkways, and other areas exposed to high humidity or occasional water contact.
The launch reinforces Knauf India's commitment to bringing globally proven, high-performance building solutions to the Indian market and supporting the development of future-ready residential, commercial, hospitality, and healthcare infrastructure.
