VDMA organized a roadshow in Delhi in association with the German Machine Tools Builders Association and Hannover Messe AG to promote the EMO Hannover, Machine Tools Expo, slated to take place between 18-23 September 2023 at Hannover, Germany.

Delivering the keynote address during the roadshow, Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, VDMA India, said, “There have been severe disruptions during the past three years on account of Covid, climate change, and global geopolitical uncertainties. This is leading to an increasing shift by European manufacturing companies to India as a sourcing hub for their engineering products. These companies are setting up their own manufacturing facilities in India and/or sourcing the components for global export markets. India is well positioned to meet the competitive engineering and design standards of global markets.”
He added, “India is currently witnessing a high level of manufacturing and engineering activities due to the fast-paced infrastructure development, especially in the transportation sector like airports, metro rails, roads and expressways, which have been given a major boost by the National Infrastructure Pipeline policy. While catering to demand from the domestic market, India is also tapping global export markets. India is therefore poised to become the fastest growing economy, with manufacturing accounting for a major share of the country’s GDP.”
The EMO Hannover global road show on machine and tools will serve as a suitable platform for Indian manufacturing entities, with India being the 11th largest machine tools producer. The Expo will enable Indian companies to acquire newer technologies and processes to meet the increasing manufacturing requirements.
Dr. Ing. Wilfied Schafer, Executive Director, German Machine Tools Builders Association, added, “The Expo, which will feature Industry 4.0, IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, will present opportunities to Indian companies to hone their manufacturing skills and build efficiencies in production with minimum wastage through digitalization. The Expo has gained a lot of importance as can be gauged by the fact that the previous edition saw 116.706 visitors from 149 countries.”
Dr. Jochen Koeckler, Chairman - Managing Board, Hannover Messe, AG said, informed that the venue of the Expo will provide a range of facilities including a highly efficient public transport system, 5-G network, and demo test centers where manufacturing companies and visitors will find the opportunity to view the latest technologies and manufacturing processes.
