Goldhofer Displays Heavy Haul Operation Solutions at IAA Transportation'24
First introduced at IAA 2022 and showcased again this year as a highlight at Goldhofer's exhibit, the five-axle »STEPSTAR« Z attracted significant attention from visitors. Its durable construction and user-friendly design make the »STEPSTAR« Z an ideal choice for heavy haul operations, offering enhanced efficiency while lowering operating costs for customers. With its outstanding payload-to-deadweight ratio, the »STEPSTAR« Z delivers considerable weight savings, resulting in payloads of up to 48.5 tons within permit. The intelligent design and use of premium components ensure a long service life, reliability, reduced maintenance costs, and increased vehicle uptime.
The »STEPSTAR« Z features an intelligent load securing system that guarantees safe and efficient transport of large and heavy loads, ensuring maximum safety throughout the process. It features an advanced intelligent load securing system, ensuring maximum safety and efficiency when transporting large and heavy loads.
The optional »TRAFFIDECKTM GO« floor covering offers more loading height and is 80% lighter compared to conventional rubber mats. Sanding of the loading area ensures safety in all weather conditions. All »STARLINE« vehicles can also be fitted with the »CARGOPLUS®« low-profile tires developed by Goldhofer, which offer the twin advantages of higher payloads and lower loading heights.
»CARGOPLUS®« 60 supports axle loads of 10 tons compared with 8 tons with 205 tires, while »CARGOPLUS®« 80 corresponds to 245 tires and delivers a 75 mm reduction in loading height for the same axle load of 12t at a speed of 80 km/h. This translates into the ability to move taller and heavier construction machinery, which in turn means greater versatility, more flexibility and fewer detours due to height restrictions on the route. The tires have been extensively tested to ensure a high level of reliability for reduced operating costs and increased efficiency.
A Goldhofer highlight on display in the outdoor area of this year's trade show was the self-tracking trailing dolly for precast concrete elements, which made a big impression in terms of design and the ability to safely transport particularly long and heavy loads. Particularly in combination with a dolly, a wide range of loads with a payload of over 70 t can be transported. The turntable steering angle of +/- 100° ensures high maneuverability, especially when maneuvering in tight spaces. All in all, this makes the vehicle concept an indispensable solution for construction companies and logistics service providers.
The »SHERPA« E, which was on show at the stand of Goldhofer’s partner Terberg Spezialfahrzeuge GmbH, attracted keen interest with its high-voltage technology and high level of efficiency. The all-electric »SHERPA« E is a sustainable solution for in-plant transportation and reduces operating costs at the same time. The vehicle delivered an impressive demonstration of Goldhofer’s credentials in the field of e-mobility.
Another crowd-puller at the trade show was a Goldhofer PST/ES-E 4 (315) with the PP 280 PowerPack operated by the Kahl company. The 2,430 mm wide self-propelled transporter made a big impression with its outstanding performance and versatility. It features an extremely robust and rigid frame and delivers outstanding tractive power, even under the most demanding operating conditions. The availability of flatrack shipping and standard truck tires give users increased flexibility for their daily work, making the PST/ES-E an economical choice for complex transport operations.
