bauma China 2010 : Excels beyond Expectation
The 5th International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Construction Vehicles and Equipment—bauma China 2010, has again set a record of sorts in terms of exhibiting space, number of exhibitors and visitors exceeding everyone's expectation. In totality, the mega trade fair has further strengthened and consolidated its position as the leading trade show for the Chinese and Asian construction industry.
Covering 230,000 square meters of exhibition space, bauma China 2010 had ten per cent bigger in area than in 2008, with an overall area of 210,000 square meters. Not just this, more than 150,000 visitors from 165 countries attended this year's bauma China as compared to 112,674 visitors from 124 countries in 2008 recording an increase of 33 per cent compared to the last edition. Similarly a large number of 1,858 exhibitors from 37 countries displayed their products in just concluded show as compared to 1,608 exhibitors from 30 countries in 2008 which means not only an increase of 15% in exhibitor numbers but also a broader international spread. "bauma China continues to be not only the vital platform for global business drive, but also the most efficient and easiest access to the latest industrial information. We do not see bauma China only as a marketplace but also as a channel to meet existing customers and festering new contacts from India, South Asia, South America and Africa," said Kenny He, Vice President of Zoomlion.
Of the total number of 1,858 exhibitors, China recorded the highest proportion with 1,124 exhibitors. 734 exhibitors coming from outside China to present their latest innovative products and services. The strongest contingents of overseas exhibitors were from Germany (154), Italy (107) and the US (92). "This year's bauma China show has exceeded all expectations. Attendance at the show, an important exhibition in the international calendar, is a must for all engine manufacturers and OEMs who are committed to being successful in the Chinese construction industry," said Gwenne Henricks, President Perkins Engines Company Ltd.
After China, the top ten countries and regions which participated in a big way include Korea, India, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia – in that order.

Other highlights at bauma China were the national pavilions from Austria, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Korea, Spain and the US, all showcasing state-of-the-art technology produced in these countries and informing about emerging research and development trends.

Gilles Martin, Manitowoc's Asia-Pacific region executive vice president, said, "Transportability, reliability, ease-of-assembly and operating speed were all factors taken into consideration when developing the MLC100. We used our expertise as a truly global manufacturer to combine the best locally-available components with Manitowoc technology for a new class-leading range of crawler cranes."
During the show, Manitowoc has also signed tower crane supply agreements with 10 Chinese rental companies and dealers. The total number of cranes to be supplied has not yet been finalized, but one of the companies has confirmed an order for more than 100 cranes. John Wheeler, Manitowoc's executive vice president for China, said that the agreements were a good faith gesture of commitment between the companies. He added, that not all the rental companies would be ordering as many cranes, but that Manitowoc was "hoping to have good sized orders from each of the companies.
In response to increasing demand, Manitowoc is also planning to expand tower crane production at its Zhangjiagang facility in China.
Sandvik Mining & Construction has launched the new DI 550, five inch (127 mm) drill rig at the show. The new drill rig has a power of 328 KW diesel engine and a 24.4 cubic metre compressor air flow at 24 bar pressure. The new Sandvik cab design is over-pressured and fitted with ROPS and FOPS protection.
The drill rigs' large windshield comes with a safety bar which is easy to open for cleaning. The key to the machine is that it has been designed to be very simple and comfortable for operations.
The new efficient dust collector features non-stop cleaning that decreases the amount of dust emissions. This also improves filters life and reduces maintenance requirements. The DI550 will be launched in market by the end of 2010 along with a new feed and rotary head.
Manitou offers multipurpose machines as well as machines that meet specific needs in regards to handling, elevation of personnel and loads. Their comprehensive range of machines are highly productive, reliable and easy to operate. At the show, company displayed its range of products including MANISCOPIC Telescopic trucks, MANIACCESS Access equipment, MANIHOE Backhoe loader with telescopic boom, MANILOADER Articulated wheeled loaders, MANITOU Rough terrain and Semi Industrial Masted trucks, Twisco Compact telescopic handler, MANITRANSIT Truck mounted Forklifts, MANILEC Electric pallet trucks and electric stackers.
Manitou offers its customers all-terrain efficiency, 4 wheel drive and steering to work on rough terrain to complete a wide variety of daily tasks. The variety of MT Machines (particularly MT10 or MT14) with their wide range of attachments including concrete buckets, buckets, forks, and jibs are used to work in many diverse construction projects. Its telescopic boom reaches over obstacles and guarantees delivery on demand, positioning materials exactly where one need them.
With a network of 600 service and parts centers in more than 120 countries, Manitou provides an efficient after-sales support based on the expertise of thousands of factory trained technicians.
Zoomlion launched the QUY 1000, a new 1000-ton crawler crane at the bauma China 2010. The QUY 1000 features a maximum lifting height of 195 m and more than 80 sensors and safety systems. The machine comes with a variety of standard and super lift options.
The crane features a modular design that makes it easy to transport, assemble and disassemble. The crane is designed for heavy lifting applications like power plant construction. Zoomlion's QUY 1000 can lift a 650 ton load at a 22m radius. The Zoomlion's new RTC55 was also launched at the show.
Zoomlion also presented key equipment representing the highest technical level of China's construction machinery industry, including the world's largest upper slewing tower crane D5200-240, the latest 38X-5RZ pump truck developed in 2010 and SUPER130 asphalt paver transcending the overseas technical level.
The 38X-5RZ pump truck displayed by Zoomlion is a whole new pump truck developed in 2010. The truck is a high-end pump truck that integrates the technical advantage of Zoomlion six-arm pump truck to satisfy different customer demands and provide customers with solutions to actual difficulties in pump truck construction. D5200-240 tower crane is the world's largest horizontal arm upper slewing jack-up tower crane fully independently innovated, developed and manufactured by Zoomlion on the basis of market demands. With a maximum lifting capacity of 240t, a lifting height of 210m and a rated torque of 5,200t•m, the crane can elevate a 240t heavy object to a level of 210m, or 60 adult elephants to a level of 70 stories. The crane's development marks the thorough change in the situation that China has long relied on import super-tonnage tower cranes. SUPER130 asphalt paver is the latest high-performance super paver that integrates the advantages of all Zoomlion pavers, which was developed by Zoomlion on the basis of researching domestic and overseas latest paving technologies, in light of the actuality of the Chinese market, is mainly used to pave asphalt mixture and particularly suitable for the thin paving of asphalt surface, and is an ideal equipment for the construction of various types of roads.
Kaushik Engineering Works (KEW) made its presence felt at the show and received overwhelming response to their products from both its existing and new clients. Company's main objective for the participation was to meet their existing clients and also customer from Africa and other overseas countries from where they get repeated orders for their machines. KEW is exporting 50% of its products to other countries.
KEW very well introduced all its products at the show. According to Mr. Saumil Shah, Director-Business Development KEW automatic asphalt drum mix plants (available in capacities ranging from 35-150 Tph) are designed and engineered to give trouble-free performance with superior fuel efficiency. The drying and mixing unit of the asphalt plant demands complex flight design and heat transfer technology and here KEW thermodrom unit follows a triple heat transfer system that ensures a total transfer of heat to the aggregates, translating into higher productivity and lower fuel consumption. The heat is transferred to the aggregates using the conductive, connective and radiation techniques.
KEW (Stationary) & MDM (Mobile) series offers customers the industry's finest and proven technical solution, latest generation process controls and automation together with total installation and site support to deliver precisely mixed quality asphalt. KEW design team facilitates custom built asphalt plants to meet specific site demands and requirements. Optional attachments like storage silos for mixed material, west dust collector for effective pollution control, Bitumen heating and storage tanks provided to suit specific needs.
The new 18 ton CJ 550 flat-top tower crane has a maximum free standing height of 79.2 metres and a maximum jib length of 80 metres.
The company has introduced the original and leading technology of Flat-Top tower cranes from Comansa Spain and has developed successfully the 21CJ and 10CJ series of Flat-top Tower Cranes. CJ series tower cranes have passed the BV authentication and conformed to the requirements of CE authentication and the export inspection. They are used worldwide in all kinds of construction projects such as industrial and civil architectures, steel structures, road and bridge, power station etc.
Terex Corporation is a diversified global manufacturer operating in four business segments: Terex Aerial Work Platforms, Terex Construction, Terex Cranes, and Terex Materials Processing. The show Terex cranes displayed its five crane models, including the new Terex® Changjiang Toplift 30A and Toplift 100A truck cranes, Terex® Powerlift 8000 crawler crane, Terex® RT 555 rough terrain crane and an all terrain crane model from the company's Zweibrücken, Germany location.
A new development in the popular 35-tonne class, the Terex® Toplift 30A truck crane uses proven components and the very latest in Terex® design technology to provide truly exceptional power for a crane in this category. Offering a maximum lifting capacity of 30 tonnes at 3-meter radius, this new model has been equipped with a 5-section telescopic 9.5 to 37.4-meter main boom for optimum high-lift capacity. Fitted with an 8-meter swing jib attachment onto its fully extended main boom, the Toplift 30A handles lifts up to a maximum lifting height of 45.3 meters.
A wide variety of jib options are also available to increase crane capacity - and return on investment. Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), a business segment of the Terex Corporation, has also introduced two shipyard telescopic booms at the show. The two lifts will be used to manufacture, repair and refurbish ships with applications ranging from 20m to 40m (60 - 120 ft) reaches.
As part of its 'total solution' offering to customers, Volvo Construction Equipment displayed its latest technologies and launched the much awaited EC200B Prime excavator, the DD118HF asphalt compactor and the ABG6820 paver at the show. Futuristic scale models of the Sfinx excavator, the Gryphin wheel loader and the Centaur articulated hauler was exhibited alongside full versions of the Volvo EC460B Prime, EC140BLC and EC60C excavators, A40E articulated hauler, L180F and L220F wheel loaders, and the SD200 soil compactor.
The EC200B Prime excavator is a brand new machine, designed for general construction in segments like utility, building and road construction in the Chinese market. Fitted with a high performance, low emission Volvo engine, the new model can develop peak torques at low rpm. The new machine features cutting edge load-sensing hydraulics, excellent attachment geometry and state-of-the-art electronics to ensure productivity at the lowest cost per ton. Combined with Volvo's renowned fuel efficiency, the new EC200B Prime offers customers 'more bangs for their buck'.
Volvo ABG 6820 paver is designed for customers who demand productivity in the road building segment. With its enhanced 9m paving width, the upgraded paver model is designed for paving all kinds of wearing, binder and base courses of large width and thickness.
The upgraded Volvo DD118HF asphalt compactor displayed had a host of unique features, such as the patented impact spacing meter, which offers the operator a visual reference for speed control to maintain impact spacing and consistent smoothness. The machine also has an optional infrared pavement temperature sensor and a premium shock and vibration isolated ROPS/FOPS operator platform with a 5-position swivel console.
Speaking at the company's international press conference at bauma China Volvo's president and chief executive Ol of Persson highlighted a package of initiatives that is destined to expand the company's operations and increase its customer base in Asia. "Volvo is committed to supporting our capacity and product offering in China and throughout Asia," said Mr. Persson. "We will achieve this by a comprehensive programme of investments in our Asian industrial operations and strengthening of our dealer network and an expansion of Volvo and SDLG branded products that are more closely tailored to the specific needs of customers in this region."
Volvo has maintained a heavy investment commitment through the economic downturn in the industry. For China alone, recent announcements have included the creation of a $30 million Volvo Technology Center in Jinan and a $50 million expansion of the company's Linyi facility. This comes on top of the $30 million investments made in the Volvo excavator facility in Shanghai since 2003. Volvo has also introduced a four model range of China-specific excavators – made and marketed by Volvo's joint venture partner in China, Lingong, under the SDLG brand. These initiatives are joined by further BRIC-focused activities, including a $20 million injection into Volvo's Bangalore factory to build excavators for the Indian market, a significant expansion of its Russian distribution and a strengthening of market share throughout South America, especially Brazil.
Volvo Penta a group company of Volvo also displayed its two state-of-the art diesel engines at the show.
On display from Wirtgen were six milling machines: the W 35 DC, W 50, W 100, W 100 L, W 1900 and W 2000 represent the most popular models for the Chinese market.
Other models on the group's stand was the new cold recycler and soil stabilizer WR 2000 XL which is based on the successful model of the WR 2000 but adapted to specific local market requirements. It can be equipped with an industry standard 2.00 m wide recycling drum, optionally with a 2.40 m recycling drum, and cuts up to 500 mm deep. The WR 2000 XL is offered without a cabin and with basic options only. The new machine is a state-of-the-art, 315 kW/422 HP class soil stabilizer and cold recycler which gives contractors and road builders a high-performance alternative to the larger WR 2400 and the WR 2500 S. In addition to dry stabilization, the WR 2000 XL stabilizes with emulsions and can be equipped with a high capacity water pump for dry soil conditions, or for cement or lime stabilization projects.
The WR 4200 is the largest cold recycler produced by Wirtgen. The high-performance machine recycles roads across the full width or individual carriageways. The recycler's working width is continuously adjustable between 2.80 m and 4.20 m. The recycler permits the addition of bitumen emulsion, foamed bitumen or water-cement slurry.
The Wirtgen slipform paver range is represented by the SP 250. The small slipform paver is the specialist for paving monolithic profiles in offset applications. The moulds can be mounted on the right or left side of the machine. In addition, the SP 250 paves inset concrete slabs with a standard working width of up to 2.50 m. The machine will be displayed with four crawler tracks.
Among the highlights from Vögele are the market-specific road pavers of the 9 m and 13 m class. The Super 1800-2 is equipped with an AB 600-2 screed (9 m) and the Super 2100-2 with a SB 250 TV screed (12 m). The Super 1800-2 is one of the most compact-sized and powerful models around in its performance class covering a wide range of applications. The Super 2100-2 is a real workhorse: the paver featuring a highly modern design handles even largest contracts with excellence and ease, let alone its high cost-effectiveness. The maximum paving width is 13 m and a laydown rate of up to 1,100 t/h as well as a paving speed of up to 25 m/min can be achieved.
Special equipment from Vögele on display was the successful Super 1800-2 SJ. The Super 1800-2 with SprayJet Module is ideally suited to paving thin layers on spray seal or for any kind of conventional paving on tack coat.
A new road paver segment is presented with the compact machines Super 800, Super 1103-2 and the Super 1300-2. Due to its compact size, variable pave width and excellent performance, the Super 800 easily handles paving jobs such as footpaths, cycle paths, small areas, applications on public grounds as well as repair and reinstatement work.
The new Compact Line from Hamm is just as user-friendly as ever, but now quieter and more powerful. The Compact Line is represented by the models HD 8, HD 10 and HD 12. Key features of the CompactLine include excellent visibility, low profile and ease of handling. Other reasons for the success of these compact rollers are their superb driving characteristics, high compaction force and low centre of mass.
On display were also the very successful HD 130 and the only real oscillation roller on the market in China, the HD O 120 V. The tandem rollers of the 12 t and 13 t class feature an ergonomic driver's seat with multifunctional control levers, in addition to driver's seat includes a rotatable and pivotable steering wheel and instrument panel.
Wirtgen China launched a campaign for introducing mobile crushing and screening equipment from the renowned German manufacturer Kleemann into the market. A highlight was displayed of the brand new impact crusher MR 110 ZS in Shanghai. The new generation of Kleemann impact crushers is a class by itself in terms of capacity and availability. The new material flow concept consistently prevents narrowing of the material stream and the system widths of the conveyor elements "open" in the material flow direction.
Normet displayed its demanding solutions for underground mining and tunneling construction including Concrete Spraying, concrete transport, charging, lifting and installations, underground logistics, scaling, and so on.
Normet sprayed concrete systems (Spraymec 8100 VC, Spraymec 1050 WP(C), Spraymec 6050 WP, Spraymec 7110 WP(C), Spraymec 9150 WP(C), contribute to the outstanding quality of sprayed concrete structures and maintain a consistently high resale value and low lifetime costs. Spraymec 8100 VC is an electro-hydraulic self-propelled mobile concrete sprayer which optimizes concrete spraying in tunnel projects with variable tunnel cross sections.
Other than this, Normet mobile concrete transport equipment, Utimec MF 500 Transmixer with practical concrete transport capacity of 4.4m3 is designed for concrete transportation in underground mines and tunnels where tramming height is 2.4m (8.0 feet) or more. The powerful liquid cooled turbo charged 120 kW TIER 3 approved engine provides clean and efficient operation and gives maximum speed of 9 km/h fully loaded in upward inclined 1:7 tunnel. In horizontal tunnel the maximum speed is 25 km/h.
Normet Charmec system (Charmec 6605 B, Charmec 9825 BE, Charmec 9905 BC ANT 1000, Charmec 9910 BC ANX 1000, Charmec MC/LC 605 DA) are built to improve safety and productivity in underground blasting and contributed to high quality and cost effective bulk explosive charging.

At the show, XGMA introduced some of its new products like forklift truck models, Side forklift truck models, Hydraulic vibratory roller, Single Vibratory Roller, Tandem Vibratory Roller, Pneumatic Roller, Motor Grader, Backhoe loader, Bulldozer, Hydraulic crawler excavators, Skid steer loader, Wheel loaders, and so on and all the products received overwhelming response from visitors.

Liebherr other product on display was Mobilmix 2.25 batching plant, which was specially redesigned by German engineering team in order to adapt to some special requirements of the Chinese market.
Liebherr has also presented its L 556 II, a completely new model in its wheel loader program at the show. In cooperation with the European competence center for Liebherr wheel loaders, the L 556 II has been specially developed to meet the requirement of the Chinese market. The L 556 II has an overturning load limit of 12,900 kg and is supplied as standard with a 3.5 cubic-meter shovel. Its service weight is then just under 17.4 metric tons. It is powered by a 140 kW (191 hp) diesel engine. The high discharge height and compliance with Liebherr's typical quality and design standards make this wheel loader ideal for even the toughest operating conditions.
During its press conference, Liebherr has announced its plans to start manufacturing of small numbers of wheeled loaders in China. The first model available will be its 140 kW/ 3.5 m3 bucket capacity L 556 II.
The machines will be manufactured at Liebherr's 19000 m2 excavator factory in Dalian, and are expected to be available from next April.
In addition, the mining excavator R 984 C, which is the most flexible digging and loading tool was also displayed at the show. It can be customized for all mining applications for maximum performance and features a working attachment which deals with all occurring forces ensuring safety and long life expectancy. The well-balanced kinematics of the R 984 C allows the highest possible reach heights and digging depths and ensures a maximum bucket filling potential. More than 35% of the total machine weight is concentrated in the undercarriage for machine stability on any ground.
The 120-tonnes machine, available in backhoe and face shovel configuration, is equipped in its standard version with a 7.7 m3 bucket capacity.
Palfinger exhibited both product innovations and time-tested system solutions at bauma China where the focus was on their efficiency in the construction industry. Over the last three years, Palfinger has positioned around 40 new High Performance crane models in the market across all the performance categories. The positive feedback particularly from dealers and customers makes a gratifying result. A higher lifting moment with the dead load remaining almost identical, functional design, a maintenance-free extension boom system, Power Link Plus and Single Link Plus reverse linkage systems are the highlights and performance features that have found a particularly positive resonance in the market. The SH series-as the crowning achievement - is impressive due to its perfect blend of power and intelligence.
The Palfinger stand also displayed a standalone PK 50002 EH High Performance crane and an Asian developed "Pioneer" telescopic hookloader mounted on a DongFeng chassis. These products demonstrated exemplarily the interesting and highly efficient range of uses that Palfinger system solutions can be put to in the construction industry. Additional truck-mounted crane attachments and equipment for every eventuality complete the exhibition program.
Palfinger Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd also launched the PS8000, a 3-tonne telescopic crane mounted on a FAW chassis. It is specifically tailored to the Asian market, for mounting on small and medium-sized trucks which was witnessed for the first time ever at bauma China.
Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen exhibited its wide-range of engines at the show that covers drives up to 730kW for US EPA Tier 4 (from 2014) as well as engines below 560kW for EU Stage III B and EPA Tier 4 interim (from 2011) and includes Series 400, Series 500, Series 900, Series 2000 and Series 4000 engines producing between approximately 100kW and 3,000kW.
In the range up to 560kW, MTU has introduced at the show its new 4- and 6-cylinder engines designated Series 1000, 1100, 1300 and 1500 based on the new generation of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles engines. These engine series will meet EU Stage IV and EPA Tier 4 final specifications and will be equipped with exhaust gas recirculation, diesel particulate filters and SCR systems.
According to the company, the new engines were designed for use in port equipment such as dockside cranes, container stackers and mobile cranes and in applications ranging from underground mining vehicles to haul trucks, wheel loaders and excavators in the world's biggest mines.
XCMG, one of the biggest Chinese construction equipment manufacturers, showcased its multiple products at bauma China. Among them was a 2,000 tonne capacity lattice boom crawler crane XGC28000 which was the star attraction of the XCMG stand. The XGC28000 is rated at 2,000 tonnes capacity at 14m radius. The maximum load moment rating is 28,000 tonne-metres and the maximum boom and jib combination is 156m.
Another new XCMG crawler on display was the 500 tonne capacity QUY500W alongside the 2000 tonne capacity XGC28000. Other new cranes on display included 1,200 and 800 tonne capacity wheeled mobile telescopic cranes and the RT 100, a 100 tonne capacity rough terrain.
In addition, the company also launched a 90m working height truck mounted platform during the show. XCMG which is best known for its crawler and truck mounted cranes and already makes a wide range of self-propelled telescopic booms and fire fighting machines, but the new GKH90 is its largest ever industrial platform. The unit on show is mounted on a Scania P380 five axle chassis and has an articulated boom, with a four section main boom and four section upper boom, with fly jib. The weight of the unit is around 40 tonnes.

Not just this, more than 150,000 visitors from 165 countries attended this year's bauma China as compared to 112,674 visitors from 124 countries in 2008 recording an increase of 33 per cent compared to the last edition. Similarly a large number of 1,858 exhibitors from 37 countries displayed their products in just concluded show as compared to 1,608 exhibitors from 30 countries in 2008 which means not only an increase of 15% in exhibitor numbers but also a broader international spread. "bauma China continues to be not only the vital platform for global business drive, but also the most efficient and easiest access to the latest industrial information. We do not see bauma China only as a marketplace but also as a channel to meet existing customers and festering new contacts from India, South Asia, South America and Africa," said Kenny He, Vice President of Zoomlion.
Of the total number of 1,858 exhibitors, China recorded the highest proportion with 1,124 exhibitors. 734 exhibitors coming from outside China to present their latest innovative products and services. The strongest contingents of overseas exhibitors were from Germany (154), Italy (107) and the US (92). "This year's bauma China show has exceeded all expectations. Attendance at the show, an important exhibition in the international calendar, is a must for all engine manufacturers and OEMs who are committed to being successful in the Chinese construction industry," said Gwenne Henricks, President Perkins Engines Company Ltd.
After China, the top ten countries and regions which participated in a big way include Korea, India, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia – in that order.
We have been in the business for over thirty years but we earned more revenues here in one single day than ever before most importantly bauma China 2010 has increased our annual turnover by 7-10% said David Phillips, Managing Director, Off Highway Research, United Kingdom.
Other highlights at bauma China were the national pavilions from Austria, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Korea, Spain and the US, all showcasing state-of-the-art technology produced in these countries and informing about emerging research and development trends.

A Few Participating Companies
Manitowoc
Manitowoc displayed its MLC100 crawler crane for the first time at bauma China 2010. It is built for the Chinese market at the company's factory in Zhangjiagang.During the show, Manitowoc has also signed tower crane supply agreements with 10 Chinese rental companies and dealers. The total number of cranes to be supplied has not yet been finalized, but one of the companies has confirmed an order for more than 100 cranes. John Wheeler, Manitowoc's executive vice president for China, said that the agreements were a good faith gesture of commitment between the companies. He added, that not all the rental companies would be ordering as many cranes, but that Manitowoc was "hoping to have good sized orders from each of the companies.
In response to increasing demand, Manitowoc is also planning to expand tower crane production at its Zhangjiagang facility in China.
Sandvik
Sandvik Mining & Construction has launched the new DI 550, five inch (127 mm) drill rig at the show. The new drill rig has a power of 328 KW diesel engine and a 24.4 cubic metre compressor air flow at 24 bar pressure. The new Sandvik cab design is over-pressured and fitted with ROPS and FOPS protection.
The drill rigs' large windshield comes with a safety bar which is easy to open for cleaning. The key to the machine is that it has been designed to be very simple and comfortable for operations.
The new efficient dust collector features non-stop cleaning that decreases the amount of dust emissions. This also improves filters life and reduces maintenance requirements. The DI550 will be launched in market by the end of 2010 along with a new feed and rotary head.
Manitou
Manitou offers multipurpose machines as well as machines that meet specific needs in regards to handling, elevation of personnel and loads. Their comprehensive range of machines are highly productive, reliable and easy to operate. At the show, company displayed its range of products including MANISCOPIC Telescopic trucks, MANIACCESS Access equipment, MANIHOE Backhoe loader with telescopic boom, MANILOADER Articulated wheeled loaders, MANITOU Rough terrain and Semi Industrial Masted trucks, Twisco Compact telescopic handler, MANITRANSIT Truck mounted Forklifts, MANILEC Electric pallet trucks and electric stackers.
Manitou offers its customers all-terrain efficiency, 4 wheel drive and steering to work on rough terrain to complete a wide variety of daily tasks. The variety of MT Machines (particularly MT10 or MT14) with their wide range of attachments including concrete buckets, buckets, forks, and jibs are used to work in many diverse construction projects. Its telescopic boom reaches over obstacles and guarantees delivery on demand, positioning materials exactly where one need them.
With a network of 600 service and parts centers in more than 120 countries, Manitou provides an efficient after-sales support based on the expertise of thousands of factory trained technicians.
Zoomlion
Zoomlion launched the QUY 1000, a new 1000-ton crawler crane at the bauma China 2010. The QUY 1000 features a maximum lifting height of 195 m and more than 80 sensors and safety systems. The machine comes with a variety of standard and super lift options.
The crane features a modular design that makes it easy to transport, assemble and disassemble. The crane is designed for heavy lifting applications like power plant construction. Zoomlion's QUY 1000 can lift a 650 ton load at a 22m radius. The Zoomlion's new RTC55 was also launched at the show.
Zoomlion also presented key equipment representing the highest technical level of China's construction machinery industry, including the world's largest upper slewing tower crane D5200-240, the latest 38X-5RZ pump truck developed in 2010 and SUPER130 asphalt paver transcending the overseas technical level.
Kaushik Engineering Works
KEW very well introduced all its products at the show. According to Mr. Saumil Shah, Director-Business Development KEW automatic asphalt drum mix plants (available in capacities ranging from 35-150 Tph) are designed and engineered to give trouble-free performance with superior fuel efficiency. The drying and mixing unit of the asphalt plant demands complex flight design and heat transfer technology and here KEW thermodrom unit follows a triple heat transfer system that ensures a total transfer of heat to the aggregates, translating into higher productivity and lower fuel consumption. The heat is transferred to the aggregates using the conductive, connective and radiation techniques.
KEW (Stationary) & MDM (Mobile) series offers customers the industry's finest and proven technical solution, latest generation process controls and automation together with total installation and site support to deliver precisely mixed quality asphalt. KEW design team facilitates custom built asphalt plants to meet specific site demands and requirements. Optional attachments like storage silos for mixed material, west dust collector for effective pollution control, Bitumen heating and storage tanks provided to suit specific needs.
Linden Comansa
Comansa Jie, the joint venture unit of Comansa (Spain) and Jie Holding Group China) has launched a new 18 ton CJ 550 flat-top tower crane at bauma China. Linden Comansa Group is one of the largest tower crane manufacturers in the world.The company has introduced the original and leading technology of Flat-Top tower cranes from Comansa Spain and has developed successfully the 21CJ and 10CJ series of Flat-top Tower Cranes. CJ series tower cranes have passed the BV authentication and conformed to the requirements of CE authentication and the export inspection. They are used worldwide in all kinds of construction projects such as industrial and civil architectures, steel structures, road and bridge, power station etc.
Terex
A new development in the popular 35-tonne class, the Terex® Toplift 30A truck crane uses proven components and the very latest in Terex® design technology to provide truly exceptional power for a crane in this category. Offering a maximum lifting capacity of 30 tonnes at 3-meter radius, this new model has been equipped with a 5-section telescopic 9.5 to 37.4-meter main boom for optimum high-lift capacity. Fitted with an 8-meter swing jib attachment onto its fully extended main boom, the Toplift 30A handles lifts up to a maximum lifting height of 45.3 meters.
A wide variety of jib options are also available to increase crane capacity - and return on investment. Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), a business segment of the Terex Corporation, has also introduced two shipyard telescopic booms at the show. The two lifts will be used to manufacture, repair and refurbish ships with applications ranging from 20m to 40m (60 - 120 ft) reaches.
Volvo
As part of its 'total solution' offering to customers, Volvo Construction Equipment displayed its latest technologies and launched the much awaited EC200B Prime excavator, the DD118HF asphalt compactor and the ABG6820 paver at the show. Futuristic scale models of the Sfinx excavator, the Gryphin wheel loader and the Centaur articulated hauler was exhibited alongside full versions of the Volvo EC460B Prime, EC140BLC and EC60C excavators, A40E articulated hauler, L180F and L220F wheel loaders, and the SD200 soil compactor.
The EC200B Prime excavator is a brand new machine, designed for general construction in segments like utility, building and road construction in the Chinese market. Fitted with a high performance, low emission Volvo engine, the new model can develop peak torques at low rpm. The new machine features cutting edge load-sensing hydraulics, excellent attachment geometry and state-of-the-art electronics to ensure productivity at the lowest cost per ton. Combined with Volvo's renowned fuel efficiency, the new EC200B Prime offers customers 'more bangs for their buck'.
Volvo ABG 6820 paver is designed for customers who demand productivity in the road building segment. With its enhanced 9m paving width, the upgraded paver model is designed for paving all kinds of wearing, binder and base courses of large width and thickness.
The upgraded Volvo DD118HF asphalt compactor displayed had a host of unique features, such as the patented impact spacing meter, which offers the operator a visual reference for speed control to maintain impact spacing and consistent smoothness. The machine also has an optional infrared pavement temperature sensor and a premium shock and vibration isolated ROPS/FOPS operator platform with a 5-position swivel console.
Speaking at the company's international press conference at bauma China Volvo's president and chief executive Ol of Persson highlighted a package of initiatives that is destined to expand the company's operations and increase its customer base in Asia. "Volvo is committed to supporting our capacity and product offering in China and throughout Asia," said Mr. Persson. "We will achieve this by a comprehensive programme of investments in our Asian industrial operations and strengthening of our dealer network and an expansion of Volvo and SDLG branded products that are more closely tailored to the specific needs of customers in this region."
Volvo has maintained a heavy investment commitment through the economic downturn in the industry. For China alone, recent announcements have included the creation of a $30 million Volvo Technology Center in Jinan and a $50 million expansion of the company's Linyi facility. This comes on top of the $30 million investments made in the Volvo excavator facility in Shanghai since 2003. Volvo has also introduced a four model range of China-specific excavators – made and marketed by Volvo's joint venture partner in China, Lingong, under the SDLG brand. These initiatives are joined by further BRIC-focused activities, including a $20 million injection into Volvo's Bangalore factory to build excavators for the Indian market, a significant expansion of its Russian distribution and a strengthening of market share throughout South America, especially Brazil.
Volvo Penta a group company of Volvo also displayed its two state-of-the art diesel engines at the show.
Wirtgen
On display from Wirtgen were six milling machines: the W 35 DC, W 50, W 100, W 100 L, W 1900 and W 2000 represent the most popular models for the Chinese market.
Other models on the group's stand was the new cold recycler and soil stabilizer WR 2000 XL which is based on the successful model of the WR 2000 but adapted to specific local market requirements. It can be equipped with an industry standard 2.00 m wide recycling drum, optionally with a 2.40 m recycling drum, and cuts up to 500 mm deep. The WR 2000 XL is offered without a cabin and with basic options only. The new machine is a state-of-the-art, 315 kW/422 HP class soil stabilizer and cold recycler which gives contractors and road builders a high-performance alternative to the larger WR 2400 and the WR 2500 S. In addition to dry stabilization, the WR 2000 XL stabilizes with emulsions and can be equipped with a high capacity water pump for dry soil conditions, or for cement or lime stabilization projects.
The WR 4200 is the largest cold recycler produced by Wirtgen. The high-performance machine recycles roads across the full width or individual carriageways. The recycler's working width is continuously adjustable between 2.80 m and 4.20 m. The recycler permits the addition of bitumen emulsion, foamed bitumen or water-cement slurry.
The Wirtgen slipform paver range is represented by the SP 250. The small slipform paver is the specialist for paving monolithic profiles in offset applications. The moulds can be mounted on the right or left side of the machine. In addition, the SP 250 paves inset concrete slabs with a standard working width of up to 2.50 m. The machine will be displayed with four crawler tracks.
Among the highlights from Vögele are the market-specific road pavers of the 9 m and 13 m class. The Super 1800-2 is equipped with an AB 600-2 screed (9 m) and the Super 2100-2 with a SB 250 TV screed (12 m). The Super 1800-2 is one of the most compact-sized and powerful models around in its performance class covering a wide range of applications. The Super 2100-2 is a real workhorse: the paver featuring a highly modern design handles even largest contracts with excellence and ease, let alone its high cost-effectiveness. The maximum paving width is 13 m and a laydown rate of up to 1,100 t/h as well as a paving speed of up to 25 m/min can be achieved.
Special equipment from Vögele on display was the successful Super 1800-2 SJ. The Super 1800-2 with SprayJet Module is ideally suited to paving thin layers on spray seal or for any kind of conventional paving on tack coat.
A new road paver segment is presented with the compact machines Super 800, Super 1103-2 and the Super 1300-2. Due to its compact size, variable pave width and excellent performance, the Super 800 easily handles paving jobs such as footpaths, cycle paths, small areas, applications on public grounds as well as repair and reinstatement work.
The new Compact Line from Hamm is just as user-friendly as ever, but now quieter and more powerful. The Compact Line is represented by the models HD 8, HD 10 and HD 12. Key features of the CompactLine include excellent visibility, low profile and ease of handling. Other reasons for the success of these compact rollers are their superb driving characteristics, high compaction force and low centre of mass.
On display were also the very successful HD 130 and the only real oscillation roller on the market in China, the HD O 120 V. The tandem rollers of the 12 t and 13 t class feature an ergonomic driver's seat with multifunctional control levers, in addition to driver's seat includes a rotatable and pivotable steering wheel and instrument panel.
Wirtgen China launched a campaign for introducing mobile crushing and screening equipment from the renowned German manufacturer Kleemann into the market. A highlight was displayed of the brand new impact crusher MR 110 ZS in Shanghai. The new generation of Kleemann impact crushers is a class by itself in terms of capacity and availability. The new material flow concept consistently prevents narrowing of the material stream and the system widths of the conveyor elements "open" in the material flow direction.
Normet
Normet displayed its demanding solutions for underground mining and tunneling construction including Concrete Spraying, concrete transport, charging, lifting and installations, underground logistics, scaling, and so on.
Normet sprayed concrete systems (Spraymec 8100 VC, Spraymec 1050 WP(C), Spraymec 6050 WP, Spraymec 7110 WP(C), Spraymec 9150 WP(C), contribute to the outstanding quality of sprayed concrete structures and maintain a consistently high resale value and low lifetime costs. Spraymec 8100 VC is an electro-hydraulic self-propelled mobile concrete sprayer which optimizes concrete spraying in tunnel projects with variable tunnel cross sections.
Other than this, Normet mobile concrete transport equipment, Utimec MF 500 Transmixer with practical concrete transport capacity of 4.4m3 is designed for concrete transportation in underground mines and tunnels where tramming height is 2.4m (8.0 feet) or more. The powerful liquid cooled turbo charged 120 kW TIER 3 approved engine provides clean and efficient operation and gives maximum speed of 9 km/h fully loaded in upward inclined 1:7 tunnel. In horizontal tunnel the maximum speed is 25 km/h.
Normet Charmec system (Charmec 6605 B, Charmec 9825 BE, Charmec 9905 BC ANT 1000, Charmec 9910 BC ANX 1000, Charmec MC/LC 605 DA) are built to improve safety and productivity in underground blasting and contributed to high quality and cost effective bulk explosive charging.
In addition, the company is also providing the lifting vehicles for optimum reach. Its Utilift vehicles (Utilift 6330 X, Utilift 6605 B, Utilift MF 540) are suitable for roof reinforcement works, explosive charging and installation of cables, pipes and ventilation equipment.
Speedcrafts
This year he said, we have introduced our new Asphalt Mixing plants which are used for road constructions and manufactured in a joint collaboration with ADM of USA and received overwhelming response from the visitors. On the functionality of the plants he added, these American designed plants provide user-friendly controls, fast and easy installation, low maintenance and higher fuel efficiency with easy portability.
XGMA
Xiamen XGMA Machinery Co., Ltd. (XGMA), which is a large scale enterprise specialized in manufacturing of construction machineries, showcased its wide range of products including wheel loaders, excavators, small machineries, road rollers, graders, bulldozers and forklifts. The company produces energy saving and efficient products, which are sold throughout the world.
At the show, XGMA introduced some of its new products like forklift truck models, Side forklift truck models, Hydraulic vibratory roller, Single Vibratory Roller, Tandem Vibratory Roller, Pneumatic Roller, Motor Grader, Backhoe loader, Bulldozer, Hydraulic crawler excavators, Skid steer loader, Wheel loaders, and so on and all the products received overwhelming response from visitors.
In order to guarantee the quality products and after sales services for its products, XGMA has set up regional institutions and more than 100 agents throughout the world forming a perfect sales network for serving its customers.
Liebherr
At the 2010 Bauma China Liebherr exhibited several of its products including the LTR 11200 telescopic-boom crawler crane, which has specially been designed for the lifting tasks associated with the construction of wind-power generators. Its 100 metre long telescopic boom and most features of the slewing platform are derived from the 9-axle LTM 11200-9.1 mobile crane, which has been used successfully on a number of wind-power generator erecting work since it was introduced last year.Liebherr other product on display was Mobilmix 2.25 batching plant, which was specially redesigned by German engineering team in order to adapt to some special requirements of the Chinese market.
During its press conference, Liebherr has announced its plans to start manufacturing of small numbers of wheeled loaders in China. The first model available will be its 140 kW/ 3.5 m3 bucket capacity L 556 II.
The machines will be manufactured at Liebherr's 19000 m2 excavator factory in Dalian, and are expected to be available from next April.
In addition, the mining excavator R 984 C, which is the most flexible digging and loading tool was also displayed at the show. It can be customized for all mining applications for maximum performance and features a working attachment which deals with all occurring forces ensuring safety and long life expectancy. The well-balanced kinematics of the R 984 C allows the highest possible reach heights and digging depths and ensures a maximum bucket filling potential. More than 35% of the total machine weight is concentrated in the undercarriage for machine stability on any ground.
The 120-tonnes machine, available in backhoe and face shovel configuration, is equipped in its standard version with a 7.7 m3 bucket capacity.
Palfinger
The Palfinger stand also displayed a standalone PK 50002 EH High Performance crane and an Asian developed "Pioneer" telescopic hookloader mounted on a DongFeng chassis. These products demonstrated exemplarily the interesting and highly efficient range of uses that Palfinger system solutions can be put to in the construction industry. Additional truck-mounted crane attachments and equipment for every eventuality complete the exhibition program.
Palfinger Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd also launched the PS8000, a 3-tonne telescopic crane mounted on a FAW chassis. It is specifically tailored to the Asian market, for mounting on small and medium-sized trucks which was witnessed for the first time ever at bauma China.
MTU
In the range up to 560kW, MTU has introduced at the show its new 4- and 6-cylinder engines designated Series 1000, 1100, 1300 and 1500 based on the new generation of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles engines. These engine series will meet EU Stage IV and EPA Tier 4 final specifications and will be equipped with exhaust gas recirculation, diesel particulate filters and SCR systems.
According to the company, the new engines were designed for use in port equipment such as dockside cranes, container stackers and mobile cranes and in applications ranging from underground mining vehicles to haul trucks, wheel loaders and excavators in the world's biggest mines.
XCMG
Another new XCMG crawler on display was the 500 tonne capacity QUY500W alongside the 2000 tonne capacity XGC28000. Other new cranes on display included 1,200 and 800 tonne capacity wheeled mobile telescopic cranes and the RT 100, a 100 tonne capacity rough terrain.
In addition, the company also launched a 90m working height truck mounted platform during the show. XCMG which is best known for its crawler and truck mounted cranes and already makes a wide range of self-propelled telescopic booms and fire fighting machines, but the new GKH90 is its largest ever industrial platform. The unit on show is mounted on a Scania P380 five axle chassis and has an articulated boom, with a four section main boom and four section upper boom, with fly jib. The weight of the unit is around 40 tonnes.
