bauma China 2008 On way to be a Mega Event
Now the most awaiting event bauma China 2008 is just few days far from us. The countdown has already started for the international trade fair for construction machinery, building materials, construction vehicles, and other equipment. The event to be held at Shanghai new International Expo Centre (SNIEC), Shanghai from 25–28 November, 2008. Trade exhibitors and visitors are getting ready with their bags and baggages.
Just few days left for the show, more exhibitors have been admitted to the event taking the revised total of exhibitors to over 1,300 on an expanded exhibition area of 210,000 sq.m. The exhibition ground has been divided between 80,000 square metres of hall space and 130,000 square metres outdoors. Total exhibition space has thus leaped by 40 percent as compared to the previous event, and the product supply industrial segment is expected to reap rich benefits. The number of international pavilions has also gone up to eight with the addition of a Romanian pavilion.
The outdoor exhibition site is well prepared to greet the heavy equipment that will be on display. “So far, for example, we have had registrations for 15 revolving tower cranes and 20 crawler cranes. In this segment, bauma China at just its fourth event has set the bar at around the same mark as at bauma in Munich,” said a delighted Collin Davis, Exhibition Director of bauma China. The services to visitors have also been extended–because of the new layout of the exhibition centre and the ongoing building works right by the SNIEC, additional shuttle services are being put on.
According to China´s National Statistical Office, it was investment activity, above all in the building sector that was the driving force behind the strong overall development of China´s economy in the first half of 2008. Investment in construction during the period reached a volume of €210 billion, which is 25 percent higher than the previous year. It means that around 18 percent of GDP went into investment in building and construction, a proportion that is twice as high as in Germany.
Currently, there are few underconstruction projects including several thousand kilometres of motorway, airport extensions, new large-scale airports and 220 port projects, with which China is seeking to double its capacity for container traffic by 2020. The biggest project currently is in Tianjin, 160 km east of Beijing. So far a sum of between three to four billion euros has been invested in this project alone.
For the first time ever, companies such as DOKA, HALFEN, MAN, SCANIA, PIUSI, LISSMAC, LONG GONG and JIANGSU WORLD will present their product portfolios at this bauma China. In addition, joint exhibits from Germany, Great Britain, Finland, Italy, Spain, Korea, and the USA will give several first-time exhibitors a chance to make new contacts with the audience of trade visitors. As a result, more than 50%, the share of international exhibitors will remain at a high level, which reflects bauma China’s importance as a leading exhibition for Asia.
bauma China 2006 had witnessed, a total of 1,088 exhibitors from 30 countries presented their products and services in construction machinery and vehicles to an audience of over 80,000 trade fair visitors from 118 countries and was the most successful and the most important trade fair for the construction and building-materials industries in Asia but this year it has been expected that bauma China 2008 has gear up and will break the previous record.
The show bauma China has been learned by the trade participants as thelargest and important platform for the rapidly growing construction industry in China and Asia as the construction boom in these countries are experiencing double-digit growth rates.

The Manitowoc Company, Inc. is one of the world’s largest providers of lifting equipment for the global construction industry, including lattice-boom cranes, tower cranes, mobile telescopic cranes, and boom trucks will launch three new Dongyue truck cranes, manufactured at its Manitowoc factory in Tai’an, China, at bauma China 2008.
Manitowoc formed the joint venture with Tai’an Dongyue Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd. The new business and products resulting from the partnership are known as Manitowoc Dongyue. The cranes on show will be the GT-10, with a 10t capacity; GT-18, with an 18t capacity; and the GT-25, with a 25t capacity.
Also to be displayed is the MCR225A from Potain, a luffing jib tower crane with a maximum capacity of 14t manufactured at Manitowoc’s factory in Zhangjiagang, China. This is the crane’s first appearance at a trade show in China. From Grove, there will be an RT9130, a 120t capacity rough-terrain crane, the largest in the Grove range. Manitowoc Crane Care, the customer service division, will be present at the show highlighting its most recent innovations including Crane Star, its upcoming remote monitoring system; its Contact Center with live call Webcam demonstration; and its latest technical publications which will be available in different languages.
Changlin, one of the leading Chinese equipment manufacturers will exhibit its range of wheel loaders, motor graders, and backhoe loaders at the show.
The products that will be displayed include ZL30H, ZL40H and ZL75H wheel loaders, PY220H motor grader, and WZ30-25 Backhoe loader. ZL30H has 10,200kg operating weight, 1.7 cubic meters standard Bucket capacity and features 87kW Cummins Engine. ZL40H has 13,200kg operating weight, 2.3 cubic meters standard Bucket capacity and 126kW Cummins Engine whereas ZL75H has 23,500kg operating weight, 4.2 cubic meters standard Bucket capacity and 216kW Cummins Engine.
On the other hand, the WZ30-25 backhoe loader is equipped with a 63 kw Cummins engine and four-forward four-reverse power shuttle transmission.

On show ZF will present its TC Tronic crane and heavy vehicle transmission called TC Tronic HD (heavy duty). The TC Tronic transmission is particularly intended for crane trucks and heavy trucks with trailers. It combines the 12-speed AS Tronic automatic transmission with a torque converter clutch (WSK).
Also on the display will be ZF next generation CML 10(Concrete Mixer Low Speed) Ecomix range for concrete mixers up to 10 m3drum capacity. The company has also plan to exhibit its efficiency package for the wheel loader and diesel lift truck market which provide increased productivity, enhanced operator comfort and also reduces operating and maintenance costs.
XCMG, the largest crane manufacturer of China will unveil a 650 tonne crawler crane at the show bauma China.
According to company vice president Zhang Yu Chun, although XCMG dominates the mobile and truck crane market in China, it is third in the crawler crane segment. However, we plan to be first within two years, he added.
XCMG will sell some 500 crawler cranes this year. However, a new dedicated factory in its home city of Xuzhou will see its capacity double to 1,000 machines in 2009. The most important thing for crawler cranes is safety and reliability so we are giving more emphasis on this. The company’s new range-topping 650 tonner is a signal of Chinese manufacturers’ move towards bigger and bigger crawler cranes, he added.
Chinese manufacturer Sany Heavy Industries Ltd will demonstrate plenty of new machines at the show ground. The company will unveil its most innovative product, the 1000 tonne capacity SCC10000 crawler crane, the largest capacity crane ever built by the Chinese manufacturer. Sany has branched out into other area of construction sector and will display its first mine truck SRT55 and QAY220 mobile crane at the event.
Other noticeable products will be two new truck pumps the 25m SY5190THB-25 on a Sany chassis and the 50m SY5385THB-50m model. The company will also showcase the bitumen-cement mortar semi-trailer, the SY2000C, a 200 tonne crawler excavator and SR360 rotary drilling rig.
At the show, JCB will be present with its new JS Auto tracked excavator model along with two of its most popular machines-the 8056 midi excavator and 3CX backhoe loader.
The new 22 tonne JS220 Auto is powered by a high performance Tier III compliant 128 Kw Isuzu engine and features enhanced operator comfort, excellent serviceability and an intelligent advanced management system. Whereas the 8056 midi excavator features a fixed king post, new heavier duty digs and air conditioning as standard. Both these machines are exclusively for the Chinese market.
Volvo Construction Equipment will be among leading exhibitors at Bauma China in Shanghai. On show, there will be new Volvo EC60C, the company’s recently introduced range of road machinery and a host of other machines.
Another highlight of Volvo CE’s participation at Bauma China will be the unveiling of the company’s new-look road machinery product range, now marketed in the Volvo corporate livery of yellow/grey and carrying the Volvo brand. Built In’, the outdoor exhibition space B56/C53 will be home to nine of Volvo CE’s latest machines: including F-Series wheel loaders, B-Series excavators, Volvo EC60C compact excavators and E-Series articulated haulers systems. Baryval-Serviplem and its joint venture in China, North Baryval Engineering Special Vehicle Corporation (NBSV) will unveil a new truck mixer, adapted for the Chinese market, but using the Spanish company’s technology and manufacturing standards.
Recently, Telco Construction Equipment Company Limited (Telcon), a leader in the construction equipment sector in India, signed an agreement with the existing shareholders of Serviplem S.A., Spain for acquisition of their 79% stake in the Company. In the spirit of partnership, the existing owners will continue to be associated with the venture and own the remaining 21%. Zoomlion with its newly acquired Italian Subsidiary Cifa will exhibit new construction equipment at the show.
On the display, there will be new HBT90.40.572RS concrete pump, equipped with intelligent control technology and HBT80.18.181RS. The show will also see new truck mounted concrete pump with X–style bracing support and Z-style boom.
Company’s new cranes to be shown include: the TCR6055-32 luffing jib tower crane, having maximum lifting weight of 32 tonnes and maximun working radius of 60m. Zoomlion will also have new truck and mobile cranes on display along with ZE80 Excavator, a diaphragm wall hydraulic grab, a dozer, paver and a grader as well as the multifunction ZR220A rotary drilling rig.
The Wirtgen Group is an internationally operating group of companies in the construction machinery sector incorporating four traditional brands: Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm and Kleemann will also make its presence at bauma China. The group will be presenting the latest machines from its three brands.
New products from Wirtgen include the W 150 cold milling machine with 1.20, 1.30 and 1.50m milling widths and a maximum milling depth of 320 mm. While Vogele will present the dash-2 paver generation as well as the new Super 1800-2 Spray Jet (S) for placing thin asphalt layers.
Hamm will exhibit the HD series, including the 1.5 tonne HD small tandem roller. Hamm will also display its new HDO120V, the company’s largest oscillatory roller with an operating weight of 12 tonne and working width of 2m.
Gomaco, the world leader in concrete paving technology will exhibit its Commander III slipforms paver at the show.
The four-track Commander III features Gomaco’s G22 control system with operation screen in the Chinese language. The G22 can also be used with wireless technology and 3D control system. With spiraling land fill costs, pressure is constantly on contractors to reduce the amount of waste for disposal from demolition sites. This has been particularly true in Europe where landfill is at a premium and this need has accelerated the innovation of new crusher technologies.

Just few days left for the show, more exhibitors have been admitted to the event taking the revised total of exhibitors to over 1,300 on an expanded exhibition area of 210,000 sq.m. The exhibition ground has been divided between 80,000 square metres of hall space and 130,000 square metres outdoors. Total exhibition space has thus leaped by 40 percent as compared to the previous event, and the product supply industrial segment is expected to reap rich benefits. The number of international pavilions has also gone up to eight with the addition of a Romanian pavilion.
The outdoor exhibition site is well prepared to greet the heavy equipment that will be on display. “So far, for example, we have had registrations for 15 revolving tower cranes and 20 crawler cranes. In this segment, bauma China at just its fourth event has set the bar at around the same mark as at bauma in Munich,” said a delighted Collin Davis, Exhibition Director of bauma China. According to China´s National Statistical Office, it was investment activity, above all in the building sector that was the driving force behind the strong overall development of China´s economy in the first half of 2008. Investment in construction during the period reached a volume of €210 billion, which is 25 percent higher than the previous year. It means that around 18 percent of GDP went into investment in building and construction, a proportion that is twice as high as in Germany.
Currently, there are few underconstruction projects including several thousand kilometres of motorway, airport extensions, new large-scale airports and 220 port projects, with which China is seeking to double its capacity for container traffic by 2020. The biggest project currently is in Tianjin, 160 km east of Beijing. So far a sum of between three to four billion euros has been invested in this project alone.

bauma China 2006 had witnessed, a total of 1,088 exhibitors from 30 countries presented their products and services in construction machinery and vehicles to an audience of over 80,000 trade fair visitors from 118 countries and was the most successful and the most important trade fair for the construction and building-materials industries in Asia but this year it has been expected that bauma China 2008 has gear up and will break the previous record.

Leading Global Exhibitors
Manitowoc
Manitowoc formed the joint venture with Tai’an Dongyue Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd. The new business and products resulting from the partnership are known as Manitowoc Dongyue. The cranes on show will be the GT-10, with a 10t capacity; GT-18, with an 18t capacity; and the GT-25, with a 25t capacity.
Also to be displayed is the MCR225A from Potain, a luffing jib tower crane with a maximum capacity of 14t manufactured at Manitowoc’s factory in Zhangjiagang, China. This is the crane’s first appearance at a trade show in China. From Grove, there will be an RT9130, a 120t capacity rough-terrain crane, the largest in the Grove range. Manitowoc Crane Care, the customer service division, will be present at the show highlighting its most recent innovations including Crane Star, its upcoming remote monitoring system; its Contact Center with live call Webcam demonstration; and its latest technical publications which will be available in different languages.
Changlin
The products that will be displayed include ZL30H, ZL40H and ZL75H wheel loaders, PY220H motor grader, and WZ30-25 Backhoe loader. ZL30H has 10,200kg operating weight, 1.7 cubic meters standard Bucket capacity and features 87kW Cummins Engine. ZL40H has 13,200kg operating weight, 2.3 cubic meters standard Bucket capacity and 126kW Cummins Engine whereas ZL75H has 23,500kg operating weight, 4.2 cubic meters standard Bucket capacity and 216kW Cummins Engine.
On the other hand, the WZ30-25 backhoe loader is equipped with a 63 kw Cummins engine and four-forward four-reverse power shuttle transmission.
BHS Sonthofen
In the field of mixing technology, BHS is offering batch and continuous mixers mostly for the concrete industry but also for other applications. The BHS twin-shaft batch mixer is famous worldwide and is applied in many thousands concrete mixing plants all over the world. Also on large and demanding constructions sites like hydro dams or nuclear power stations the BHS twin-shaft batch mixer is widely used and is always working to the full satisfaction of its owner. BHS mixers can not only be seen on many ready-mix plants but also in the concrete precast industry. Especially for many new concrete recipes (like SCC or UHP) the BHS mixers is ideally suitable.
At BAUMA China in Shanghai BHS-Sonthofen will exhibit a Twin-Shaft Batch Mixer type DKX 6,0. This mixer is able to produce 6,0 m³ of compacted concrete in a mixing time of 30 sec.
ZF
Also on the display will be ZF next generation CML 10(Concrete Mixer Low Speed) Ecomix range for concrete mixers up to 10 m3drum capacity. The company has also plan to exhibit its efficiency package for the wheel loader and diesel lift truck market which provide increased productivity, enhanced operator comfort and also reduces operating and maintenance costs.
XCMG
According to company vice president Zhang Yu Chun, although XCMG dominates the mobile and truck crane market in China, it is third in the crawler crane segment. However, we plan to be first within two years, he added.
XCMG will sell some 500 crawler cranes this year. However, a new dedicated factory in its home city of Xuzhou will see its capacity double to 1,000 machines in 2009. The most important thing for crawler cranes is safety and reliability so we are giving more emphasis on this. The company’s new range-topping 650 tonner is a signal of Chinese manufacturers’ move towards bigger and bigger crawler cranes, he added.
Sany
Other noticeable products will be two new truck pumps the 25m SY5190THB-25 on a Sany chassis and the 50m SY5385THB-50m model. The company will also showcase the bitumen-cement mortar semi-trailer, the SY2000C, a 200 tonne crawler excavator and SR360 rotary drilling rig.
JCB

Another highlight of Volvo CE’s participation at Bauma China will be the unveiling of the company’s new-look road machinery product range, now marketed in the Volvo corporate livery of yellow/grey and carrying the Volvo brand. On the display, there will be new HBT90.40.572RS concrete pump, equipped with intelligent control technology and HBT80.18.181RS. The show will also see new truck mounted concrete pump with X–style bracing support and Z-style boom.
Company’s new cranes to be shown include: the TCR6055-32 luffing jib tower crane, having maximum lifting weight of 32 tonnes and maximun working radius of 60m. New products from Wirtgen include the W 150 cold milling machine with 1.20, 1.30 and 1.50m milling widths and a maximum milling depth of 320 mm. While Vogele will present the dash-2 paver generation as well as the new Super 1800-2 Spray Jet (S) for placing thin asphalt layers.
Hamm will exhibit the HD series, including the 1.5 tonne HD small tandem roller. Hamm will also display its new HDO120V, the company’s largest oscillatory roller with an operating weight of 12 tonne and working width of 2m.

Indian Earthmoving & Construction Industry Association (ECIA)
The association started with 10 Indian member companies, primarily manufacturers & importers of tractors, earthmoving & allied equipment, was rechristened as ‘Indian Earthmoving & Construction Industry Association Ltd.’ (IECIAL) in 1986 with the objective to make IECIAL a national point of reference for the Indian earthmoving & construction equipment industry.Most of the leading construction equipment manufacturers are member of this Association and actively participate in its functioning. It regularly interacts with the Government, making the industry globally competitive, adopting state-of-the-art technology, etc. Many of the member companies have foreign collaboration with the world–class companies for manufacturing high standard equipment.

MB Crusher
MB Crusher will exhibit four new crusher buckets in the shape of the 1.5 tonnes BF 60.1, the 2.25 tonnes BF 70.2, the 3.5 tonnes BF 90.3 and the 4.9 tonnes BF 120.4.With spiraling land fill costs, pressure is constantly on contractors to reduce the amount of waste for disposal from demolition sites. This has been particularly true in Europe where landfill is at a premium and this need has accelerated the innovation of new crusher technologies.
One enterprising company, Meccanica Breganzese (MB Crusher) has produced a range of excavator mounted crusher buckets that are winning fans around the world, including India.
In their high production capacity, the buckets crusher can be used in big and medium sites, doing away totally with the hire costs of machines fitted with a crusher and also transport costs. The transport costs of the bucket crusher are negligible (it is moved like any equipment or digging bucket). Finally, the bucket/crusher cancels totally the costs for the disposal of demolition material in a dump.

The MB bucket also has the option of an iron separator which can prove very beneficial to contractors working in recycling applications. “By dragging the rear of the bucket over the crushed pile, any steel is easily removed and able to be placed aside for recycling purposes,” said Giulia Riboni.
“We are currently performing a series of demonstrations around India and invite interested contactors to contact us for an invitation to these sites. We look forward to showing everyone how much time and money the crusher bucket will save customers from reduced waste disposal and transport costs,” added Riboni.
