Siemens powers the world's longest railway station

Siemens
Siemens has powered the Hubballi junction as the world's longest railway station of the South Western zone of Indian Railways. Prior to this, Gorakhpur railway station held the title of having the world's longest railway platform. It is a matter of immense pride for all that the world's longest platform is now running on Siemens technology for fail-safe rail operations. Siemens Mobility commissioned WEST RACE Mk2 Electronic Interlocking at Hubballi junction, also known as, Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji railway station. The Hubballi railway station, being 1,505 meters in length and 10 meters in width, is set to register itself as the world's longest railway platform. Construction work on platform no. 1 was underway last year, but couldn't be completed due to the ongoing pandemic. The existing platform was 550-metres long, which extended to 1,505 meters. This extension is part of line doubling between Hubballi and Bengaluru, underway since 2019. The railway station also got three more platforms at the end of the project, taking the total number of platforms to eight. Hubballi Junction railway station is strategically significant for the Indian Railways as it connects Bengaluru and Hyderabad to the rest of India. This station is now one of the largest in the country with 502 routes running on Siemens Westrace MK II technology for fail-safe operations. The station has been equipped with distributed architecture which is centrally operated from the station master room through a Dual Visual Display Unit (2 – VDUs). Hubballi will soon apply for the Guinness Book of World Records for successfully building the world's longest railway platform.
