Coimbatore corporation to repair 2,807 roads at 170-cr

Coimbatore corporation is engaged in a comprehensive road relaying endeavor, covering a 2,807 roads spanning a total distance of 422.93km. To ensure a seamless driving experience for motorists during the upcoming northeast monsoon, the relaying works have been divided into 112 modules, with a total cost of 170.07 crore allocated for their implementation.

The city corporation has received the highest-ever funding of 260.57 crore for road works in the past two years. As part of the ongoing efforts, 45.84 crore has already been utilized to complete road works under the 2022-23 Turif packages I and II, with an additional 24.64 crore designated for repairs on 182 roads through the Turif III package.

Further bolstering the initiative, a budget of 170.07 crore has been assigned for the 2022-23 Turip IV package, Turip 2023-24 funds, Nagarpura Salai Membattu Thittam, and the state finance commission fund. Notably, repairs on 123 roads, costing 7.61 crore, have commenced under the 2022-23 Turip IV package.
