DND-Jaitpur-Faridabad-Sohna Expressway Corridor Nears Full Completion, Cuts Travel Time to 45 Minutes

DND-Jaitpur-Faridabad-Palwal-Sohna expressway
The final stretch of the DND-Jaitpur-Faridabad-Palwal-Sohna expressway corridor has been completed, with trial runs indicating that travel time between Sarai Kale Khan and Sohna or Palwal could fall to 40–45 minutes from around three hours during peak traffic, according to South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri.

Bidhuri said the final stretch had been completed following an inspection with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was conducting load testing and other technical evaluations during the inspection. The corridor could be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this year, according to sources cited in the report.

Once fully operational, the corridor is expected to improve connectivity between Delhi and key destinations in Haryana, including Faridabad, Sohna and Palwal. The route runs from Sarai Kale Khan through Jaitpur and Meethapur to Faridabad, with onward links to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway network.

The DND-Faridabad-Sohna Access Controlled Highway, designated NH-148A, extends for approximately 59 km, while the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway section between the DND Flyway and Jaitpur covers around 9 km. The DND-Jaitpur stretch provides a direct connection from Delhi to the wider expressway network, while the adjoining sections link the capital with Faridabad and the KMP Expressway.

The new corridor is expected to provide an alternative to existing routes used by commuters travelling between Delhi and Faridabad, helping ease congestion on the Ring Road and Mathura Road. Traffic heading towards Faridabad, Ballabhgarh and Sohna is expected to benefit from improved route options.

Bidhuri said the corridor would ease congestion at Ashram Chowk, Kalindi Kunj and along Mathura Road, while reducing travel time and fuel consumption. He added that the DND Flyway-to-Faridabad journey could take around 20 minutes, compared with approximately 30 minutes currently required to cover the Ashram-Badarpur border section.

The corridor's operating status varies by section. The 9 km Delhi stretch between the DND Flyway and Jaitpur has been opened on a trial basis, with toll-free access and a cautious speed limit of 40 kmph while NHAI monitors traffic. The approximately 50 km Haryana section between Jaitpur and Sohna/KMP is already operational.

The project is expected to strengthen road connectivity between Delhi and southern Haryana, improve access to major expressways and reduce travel times for commuters and other road users.
