BMC plans ₹1,600-cr Dahisar-Bhayander road link

To decongest traffic at Dahisar check naka, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to build a link road connecting Dahisar and Bhayander at ₹1,600 crore investment. Additional Commissioner P Velrasu informed that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has agreed to hand over the Dahisar stretch of the coastal road to the civic body. The road will also serve as a bypass from the western express highway and BMC is currently working on a detailed project report and will float the tender before the code of conduct for the civic polls is announced. This road is 5-km long and nearly 2-km of it will pass through the salt commissioner‘s land. The land acquisition may also cost another ₹1,600 crore and for the project it is also seeking a nod from the Maharashtra Coastal Regulation Zone Authority to start the construction work. Once the project is commissioned, it will reduce 70 percent of traffic at the Dahisar stretch.
