MoRTH launches ₹21,000-cr road projects in AP

The Union transport minister has laid the foundation stones of 51 road projects of various sizes in Vijayawada entailing ₹21,000 crore investment. Nitin Gadkari informed that out of the total, 30 road projects with a length of 735 km are costing ₹10,368 crore and 21 projects stretching across 645 km involve ₹11,191 crore investment. In fact, six out of the 23 greenfield express highways have been taken up by the Centre in the last five years. They include the Raipur-Visakhapatnam (465 km) which will be completed by 2024, Nagpur to Vijayawada highway which will be completed by 2025, Chittoor-Tanjavur highway, Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam highway and Bangalore-Chennai highway with a length of 85 km in AP and all these projects are slated to be completed before 2025. The state government had allocated highways worth ₹10,600 crore for the state highways, including ₹6,400 crore for connecting the district headquarters to revenue blocks through two-lane highways, ₹2,300 crore for repair and maintenance and ₹1,700 crore for the pending works.
