NHAI speeds up ₹6,400 cr Bengaluru-Mysuru project

The four-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru state highway-17, which was given national highway status recently, NHAI has now started the process of upgrading highway to eight-lane at an investment of ₹6,400 crore. The project is expected to be completed in 30 months from the date of commencement of the work and once completed, it will reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru by at least 90 minutes. Currently, the road stretch takes about three hours. In this connection, the transport minister Nitin Gadkari will visit Bengaluru soon to clear all the hurdles in the Bengaluru-Mysuru project. Apart from this, the central government has also agreed to convert Tumakuru-Shivamogga road from the current two lanes to four-lanes. Prior to this, the state would hand over the Sampaje-Mani stretch of the state highway in Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada to NHAI. Already the stretch between Madikeri-Sampaje has been handed over to the NHAI as the Madikeri-Thalassery stretch will reduce the traveling time between Karnataka and Kerala drastically.
