The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to start the work on the seven-metre wide National Highway 74 that connects Bareilly, Pilibhit and Sitarganj in Uttarakhand into a four-lane road at an estimated cost of ₹1,200 crore. The highway will be widened to 22-25 metres along with a divider, Bareilly division project director, NHAI, Mukesh Sharma said, elaborating that the 74-km stretch of the national highway connecting Uttarakhand and UP sees heavy traffic movement and to cater to the congestion, it has been decided to convert it into a four-lane carriageway. Once the highway is widened, commuting will become smoother and faster. Prior to this, a portion of the Bareilly-Sitapur NH-24 stretch had caved following heavy rainfall in the region, which is being repaired by NHAI on war footings.
