NHAI floats tender for ₹17,930-cr expressway in TN

Expressway Project
NHAI has floated tenders for the Bangalore-Chennai Expressway on HAM model involving an investment of ₹17,930 crore. The mega project, which was announced during the 1990s, by the then FM P Chidambaram in his Union budget, is finally set to see the light of day. The road project has been divided into 10 packages, for which tenders have now been invited in three packages, in three states -- Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The agency has called for tenders for the 27 km Hoskote-Malur stretch. This will be followed by two other packages; Malur-Bangarpet and Bangarpet to Andhra Pradesh border. The total stretch in the state will be 72 km and the Centre will start the work at the earliest. This will be the first greenfield expressway in South India, cutting across Hosakote, Malur (Karnataka), V Kota, Palamaner (Andhra Pradesh), Gudiyatam, Arakkonam and Sri Perambadur (Tamil Nadu). It will be the shortest distance between Bangalore and Chennai with distance reduced to 250 km, from Hoskote to Sri Perambadur.
