Kerala’s Longest Multi-Span River Bridge Nears Inauguration

The Kumbichalkkadavu Bridge in Amboori

The Kumbichalkkadavu Bridge in Amboori, Kerala’s longest multi-span river bridge, is set to be inaugurated soon, marking a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure development. Built across the river with seven spans, the bridge showcases a significant engineering achievement.

Constructed at a cost of ₹24.71 crore with funding from the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), the bridge will greatly improve connectivity in Amboori, the southernmost high-range area of the district. In addition, 16 connecting roads through Chakkapara and Kunnathmala are being developed at a cost of ₹7.99 crore to support the new link.

With the bridge nearing completion, authorities are also exploring the potential for developing 'bridge tourism' in the scenic region.
