Japan commits $ 3-bn infra investment in Gujarat

infra investment in Gujarat
Japan has committed to invest a staggering sum worth $ 3 billion in Gujarat by 2020, from the current $1 billion, said Chief Minister, adding that Japanese companies are contributing to the 'Make in India' mission in a big way and the state is a second home for these companies in India. Last year, as many as 15 MoUs were signed, while 10 MoUs were signed recently, claimed Chairman, JETRO, Hirokuki Ishige, during the launch of a Business Support Centre (BSC) of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), in Ahmedabad. Ten Japanese companies — mostly in the automobile sector — signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State government to set up their units in the state including the development of hybrid industrial park and Indo-Japan Industrial Township and Auto Value Chain. Gujarat is working to set up an Indo-Japan industrial township, for which the State government has acquired 1,750 acres of land at Khoraj in Sanand. The government is also setting up an auto value-chain park in Bhagapura near Ahmedabad as the state agencies have reserved 273 hectares of land for the purpose.
