Indian Railways Sanctions 100 Projects Worth Rs 1.53 Lakh Cr in FY26, Over 6,000 km Expansion

Ministry of Railways has sanctioned 100 railway infrastructure projects in FY 2025–26 with a total investment of Rs 1.53 lakh crore, covering an expansion of over 6,000 km of railway network.

The approved projects include new railway lines, doubling and multi-tracking works aimed at decongesting saturated routes and enhancing network capacity across the country.

These projects are expected to improve connectivity to underserved regions, increase operational efficiency, and support smoother passenger and freight movement across the railway network.

The large-scale approvals mark a significant push towards capacity augmentation and modernisation of India’s rail infrastructure, with a sharp increase in investment and project coverage compared to the previous financial year.
