Delhi gets Rs. 266-cr under AMRUT

For building matching infrastructure across the national capital, the Central government has approved funds to the tune of Rs. 266-cr for improving water supply and sewage and drainage network in the national capital. The fund has been approved by the Ministry of Urban Development as part of Annual Action Plan of Delhi for 2016-17 under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). With the latest sanction, Delhi under Atal Mission secured whopping funds of Rs. 489-cr as in January this year, the government had cleared Rs. 223-cr for similar work, a ministry spokesperson said adding that of this, Rs. 215-cr will be invested in improving water supply, Rs.254-cr on improving sewerage networks, Rs. 8-cr for drainage networks, and Rs. 12-cr for developing open and green spaces. Delhi Jal Board will take up five water supply projects in East Municipal Corporation of Delhi area at a total cost of Rs. 102cr, one sewerage project in North MCD area at a cost of Rs. 95-cr and another sewerage project in South MCD area costing Rs. 55cr.
