We believe that zero-emission, environmentally friendly construction work, and maximum productivity are not necessarily mutually exclusive.![]()

Sustainable solutions and technologies are firmly anchored in all corporate processes of the Wirtgen Group. The future of road construction must be made smarter and safer and, above all, must maintain a consistent focus on sustainability. This is the reason why sustainability is a guiding principle for all Wirtgen product brands and determines their actions in all areas of the company.
Sustainability an opportunity

We have set ourselves the goal of reducing our CO2e emissions in three key areas (so called scopes) in line with the internationally recognized standards of the GHG Protocol. In the course of this, we determine, closely observe and analyse all emissions, both direct and indirect, arising at each point along the value chain.
Electrically powered equipment
The requirements for protection against the various types of harmful emissions on urban construction sites are becoming tighter due to ongoing efforts to protect local residents, construction crews, and historic buildings. The Wirtgen Group responded to these issues at an early stage of this development. Today, we are able to offer our customers an electrically-powered range of formerly fossil fuel powered construction equipment for selected applications – which, in consequence, leads to lower noise levels, reduced vibration, less dust pollution, and lower CO2 emissions.

With the launch of models of the new E-Power Generation at Bauma last year, the Wirtgen Group showcased that zero-emission, environmentally friendly construction work and maximum productivity are not necessarily mutually exclusive. The battery-electric Mini Class Road pavers from Vögele, battery-electric tandem rollers from Hamm, and diesel-electric EVO line crushers from Kleemann are outstanding examples of sustainable and efficient product development, which enable our customers to realize their projects more sustainably.
