“We are able to carve out a niche for ourselves”

Meanwhile, the company keeps exploring new avenues so as to offer customized solutions when and where needed. "Keeping the paucity of time in view wherein instant but accurate results are the key, we have come up with such products and processes to meet the contemporary demands of varied markets. We are getting substantial response from across the geographies irrespective of sectors. Our products are well-received not only in India but also across the borders, especially areas with hilly topography facing restrictions imposed by the government on RCC/concrete construction," says Mr. Nanchahal adding that better part of our jobs are based on the government announcements/sanctions on infra projects, especially power. "Bhutan is the emerging market for us where we have recently worked for hydro power project and Army."
The company serves both the government as well as private sectors, and fulfills their respective needs for cabins, containers, security posts, portable toilets, etc. According to him, Tinny Craft offers bunk houses in various styles or formats of site offices made from containers, which are quick in all respects including transportation and installation. Under the bunk house, which is just like a car, the company gives various options of sizes (10 x 10 sqft, 20 x 8 sqft, 20 x 10 sqft, 24 x 10 sqft, 30 x 10 sqft, 40 x 8 sqft) and sitting arrangements. Depending on the requirements, the setup may include boss cabin, conference room, work stations, besides drawing room, bedrooms, and dining room along with pantry and store.

These bunk houses are lift-able by cranes thus are very easy to transport from one place to another without hassle. This apart, all modern gadgets and electronic items like computers, fans, AC, TV, geysers, refrigerators, etc. can be installed on demand. The containers used are sometime new and sometime refurnished. "We fabricate the portable containers using profiled MS sheet, ISMB, ISMC sections and standard pillars for lifting. We supply containers with proper door and windows. Made in compliance with the set standards, these portable containers possess robust structure, high strength, long life, and resistance to corrosion," explains Mr. Nanchahal.
Amidst all the success stories, he also expresses his concerns on the age old taxation system, which is outdated and doesn't fit to the contemporary business setup. "There should be a separate treatment for our industry, as it is different from conventional construction and therefore, a structured policy framework should be prepared to provide a level playing field. This apart, proper taxation policy should be brought in place with clarification on components to be included in the purview as when compared to the conventional construction system it is losing head due to the discriminatory cost factor," Mr. Nanchahal suggests besides being seemingly unhappy with the labour law as well on which the success story of this industry depends. "The government should amend the labour laws as well."
However, he quips that the impact of globalization has started reaping benefits. "People have now become very receptive to these ideas and believe that for time-bound completion of the projects, employees should be given the needed atmosphere to work in. And this is what we facilitate onsite. The portable offices and accommodations, which are fully furnished and come fitted with all the basic amenities right from lighting, fans, ACs, storage, kitchen, and bathroom – all for the comfort of those involved strategically in the project," he avers adding that ultimately these are the boosters aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the people to deliver the best.
