What opportunities does CJ Darcl Logistics see in India’s rapidly expanding logistics infrastructure to enhance the company’s efficiency, resilience, and competitiveness?
India’s logistics ecosystem is in the middle of a structural transformation. Large-scale investments in highways, dedicated freight corridors, port modernisation and multimodal hubs, combined with reforms like GST and the E-way bill, have reduced friction in interstate movement and improved transit reliability. This is reflected in India’s significant jump in the global Logistics Performance Index, which underlines how infrastructure and regulatory reforms together are strengthening logistics efficiency and competitiveness.Alongside transport infrastructure, the demand for Grade A and B warehousing in sectors such as electronics, retail, FMCG and manufacturing has risen sharply, with many of these industries increasingly relying on 3PL partners for efficient inventory management and distribution. In this context, logistics companies are expected to move beyond point-to-point movement and operate as integrated supply chain partners.
At CJ Darcl, we see this as an opportunity to deepen our role across the value chain. Our asset-right model, powered by access to a fleet network of over 9.5 lakh vehicles and around 1,200 owned vehicles, gives us both scale and flexibility. We are also designing networks that encourage multimodal and rail-based options wherever feasible, which helps customers lower both cost and emissions. Together, these initiatives are enhancing efficiency and resilience in our customers’ supply chains and reinforcing CJ Darcl’s positioning as a trusted, future-ready logistics partner.
How is CJ Darcl strengthening its multimodal logistics capabilities and expanding its network to support large-scale infrastructure and construction projects?
India’s infrastructure and construction pipeline is at a multi-year high, and project owners are looking for logistics partners who can handle critical equipment and materials reliably, on time and at scale. CJ Darcl has aligned its multimodal network to address these needs with solutions that combine road, rail, coastal and air movements, supported by digital visibility tools. We offer integrated movement of heavy construction equipment, machinery and bulk materials across road, rail and coastal routes, so that project cargo can reach sites efficiently anywhere in the country. Our capacity includes over 2,400 containers and more than 1,600 commercial vehicles, including container trucks, tractor trailers, pullers, tippers and loaders that can support a wide range of construction and infra-linked cargo profiles.
We are also strengthening our rail freight capabilities and expanding specialised services such as first-mile movement from plants, intermediate storage and handling, last-mile delivery to project sites, invoicing support and even inventory management within customers’ systems.
Backed by nearly four decades of operational experience, this combination of multimodal reach, specialised equipment and value-added services, positions CJ Darcl as a dependable logistics partner for India’s infrastructure and construction growth story.

What initiatives such as adoption of alternative fuels, route optimisation, energy-efficient fleet operations, or waste reduction is CJ Darcl implementing to minimize its carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly logistics?
India’s net-zero ambition puts logistics at the centre of the transition to greener infrastructure. A major lever at CJ Darcl has been the deliberate modal shift towards multimodal transportation, especially increased use of rail for suitable long-haul routes. Since rail is significantly more carbon-efficient than road, this shift enabled us to avert approximately 11,53,57.33 tonnes of carbon emissions in FY 24 by choosing rail over road wherever operationally viable. We are also gradually transitioning to electric vehicles in select operations as part of a broader decarbonisation roadmap. From an efficiency standpoint, we deploy AI-powered route optimisation to cut fuel consumption through predictive traffic analytics and dynamic route planning. In parallel, we closely track waste generated across our operations, leading to higher recovery of recyclable materials and a reduction in emissions associated with disposal. Taken together, these interventions are helping us build a more sustainable logistics model that supports India’s green infrastructure goals while delivering measurable value to our customers.
How is CJ Darcl fostering inclusivity, diversity, and skill development among its drivers, operations teams, and management?
At CJ Darcl, we are shaping a workforce that is inclusive, skilled, and aligned with the evolving demands of modern supply chains. Logistics has traditionally been a male-dominated sector, but we are working to change that by encouraging women’s participation across leadership, functional and operational roles. We also extend employment opportunities to persons who are differently abled and talented from tribal regions, ensuring that the benefits of growth are more widely shared. On the capability-building front, we run structured training programs across levels that include leadership development interventions, specialised programs for first-time managers, technology transfer and knowledge-sharing initiatives in partnership with CJ Logistics Corporation. We also hold robust safety training for our warehousing and transportation teams and design customised learning modules for drivers, based on individual performance and telematics data, with a strong emphasis on safe driving practices, fuel efficiency and regulatory compliance. This integrated approach to inclusivity and skill development is enabling CJ Darcl to build a strong, engaged workforce that underpins our operational reliability and service quality.
How is CJ Darcl leveraging IoT, AI-driven analytics, and automation to enhance fleet management, optimize operations, and real-time logistics solutions?
Technology is central to CJ Darcl’s vision of building more predictable, transparent and efficient supply chains. Just as we have adopted a phygital approach in our brand-building by integrating physical and digital channels, we are also tightly coupling on-ground logistics execution with a robust digital backbone to improve both performance and customer experience. Our Transportation Management System provides end-to-end cargo visibility, enabling customers to track their shipments and helping our teams plan routes, loads and capacity more effectively. IoT-enabled telematics devices installed across the fleet continuously capture data on location, vehicle health and driving behaviour, which supports preventive maintenance and better asset utilisation. We have also deployed AI-enabled dashcams with Driver Fatigue Monitoring Systems to enhance road safety and reduce the risk of accidents.
Centralised digital control towers integrate these data streams to enable real-time monitoring, faster exception handling and more responsive customer service. Building on broader trends such as cloud adoption and AI/ML-driven analytics in logistics, we are moving towards an architecture that supports predictive planning, secure data sharing and greater automation across the supply chain.
Supported by technology transfer from CJ Logistics in South Korea, this multi-layered digital strategy reinforces customer trust through higher reliability, stronger safety performance and consistently better service outcomes.
As demand grows for specialised logistics in sectors such as construction, mining, and renewable energy, how is CJ Darcl integrating smart logistics hubs, heavy-lift capabilities, and last-mile connectivity solutions to efficiently handle construction materials, project cargo, and clean energy components?
Specialised project logistics is a key focus area for CJ Darcl, particularly in construction, mining and renewable energy where cargo is often large, heavy and technically demanding to move. Our experience in handling complex cargo across diverse terrains and challenging sites has helped us build a strong track record in this space. We have invested significantly in specialised equipment and containers, including container trucks, tractor trailers, pullers, tippers and loaders. As of 31 March 2025, CJ Darcl maintains one of the largest inventories of over 1,800 specialised containers in India for multimodal operations, designed specifically to handle over-dimensional and heavy-lift cargo such as wind turbine components, solar equipment and heavy mining machinery.
Our differentiation lies in integrated multimodal execution supported by strategically located logistics hubs. We combine rail and coastal shipping for long-haul transport of heavy cargo with specialised road solutions for first-mile pickup and last-mile delivery. This end-to-end planning and coordination ensures that construction materials, project cargo and clean energy components are delivered safely, within defined timelines and in line with the technical and safety requirements of each sector.
