Putzmeister - Mechanization is Key
Wilfried Theissen, MD, Putzmeister India is confident of steady demand for stationary concrete pumps and boom placers as the construction industry picks up pace.
What are your demand projections for stationery concrete pumps and boom placers during 2019-20 in residential and commercial real estate, concrete road and bridge construction projects?
Ambitious development targets and increasing pressure to complete projects on time require an increased adoption of mechanization. As a result, although there are indications of an economic slowdown, we are seeing a steady demand for both stationary concrete pumps and boom placers as compared to the previous period. And we expect this trend to continue.
In view of the rising demand for accuracy in the rated concrete throughput, what technological improvisations are being made at Putzmeister?
Putzmeister follows a continuous process of R&D. We regularly seek feedback from customers, operators and our own teams to continually improve the output, efficiency and profitability of our equipment. Our pumps are known for delivering excellent performance in both vertical and horizontal pumping. Our pumps are rugged, reliable, easy to operate and maintain, and have a lower total cost of ownership in the longer run.
Putzmeister stationary pumps can deliver even the heaviest grades of concrete at output rates of up to 200 m3/hr, without requiring the installation of additional equipment. They are designed to withstand prolonged periods of intensive use. Our customers also acknowledge the output of our pumps – over 70% rated the performance of our pumps as better than that of other OEMs, in a recent survey.
What advancements has the company made in its pumps and placers through adaptation of digitization?
We will be introducing telematics for our pumps later this year. Putzmeister Machine Cockpit will relay real-time information on the machines, allow for remote fault diagnosing, provide data to help improve the productivity and efficiency of machines, and give maintenance alerts to help improve machine uptime.
What initiatives has Putzmeister taken to ensure higher availability of equipment?
We offer operations and maintenance support, especially on the more challenging projects. A Putzmeister team of operators and managers are always present at the jobsites to help operate and maintain the equipment. This ensures almost nil downtime and allows the customer to focus on other aspects of delivering the project.
