How do you assess the progress of India’s CE market and what strategies will define competitiveness in this dynamic landscape?
India’s construction equipment market is showing continuous growth and significant potential, namely due to certain key factors like improvements in road construction infrastructure, increasing urbanization, and higher investments in infrastructure development. With better road transportation infrastructure and the rise in urban population, there is a greater demand for improved mobility, healthcare, sanitation, and water supply, etc. which is boosting demand for construction equipment.According to the latest ICEMA report, 98% of the construction equipment sold in India was manufactured domestically, reflecting the remarkable progress of the Indian CE industry. Alongside robust domestic growth, international demand has also witnessed a rise of around 10%, highlighting the increasing global confidence in India-manufactured equipment.
With the implementation of new regulatory frameworks such as the Bharat Stage (BS) V emission standards, India has gained stronger confidence of international equipment buyers. India’s CE industry is aligning with global manufacturing and environmental benchmarks, and delivering world-class quality at highly competitive prices.
Considering the prevailing global headwinds and supply chain disruptions, it has become increasingly vital to strengthen the domestic supply chain. Enhancing the use of locally sourced components will help diversify risk, mitigate the impact of volatile international markets, and reduce import dependency.
Looking ahead, the construction equipment market is projected to maintain a steady growth trajectory in the coming years, driven by strong infrastructure development, supportive policies, and growing domestic capabilities.

With India’s infrastructure rapidly expanding across roads, tunnels, railways, power projects, and more, how is Conmat diversifying its product portfolio to address these varied project requirements?
At Conmat Heavy Industries, our expansion strategy is driven by a strong focus on R&D, market feedback, and a customer-centric approach, which includes upgrading our product portfolio from time to time to meet the requirements of our customers. After consolidating our market supremacy in Concrete Equipment like Batching Plants, Self Loading Mixers, Paving Machines and Transit Mixers, we are now diversifying into manufacturing of earthmoving machineries like Wheel Loaders, Soil Compactors, Excavators, etc. Our aim is to offer complete solutions to customers engaged in construction of critical projects like tunnels, railways, power, etc.
What measures is the company taking to implement energy efficiency, recycling, and waste utilisation in its operations?
With growing environmental awareness, we are witnessing a clear shift in buyer behaviour. Customers now prioritize eco-friendly and sustainable solutions, hence, we have taken proactive steps to align our product development with the latest environmental standards. Our machines adhere to the latest emission norms, ensuring reduced environmental impact and enhanced compliance. These machines are designed not only to deliver top-tier performance but also to support environmentally responsible construction practices.
We undertake continuous research and development of sustainable technologies to integrate them into our machines. In fact, Conmat has always taken the lead in investing in green technology, reinforcing its position as a forward-thinking and environmentally conscious company.
As we continue to optimize product performance, our goal is to deliver smart, efficient, and sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and contribute to a greener future.
What initiatives has Conmat taken to promote inclusivity, diversity, and skill development in its workforce?

Our flagship 1-day Operator Training program brings together operators from various regions for intensive skill-building sessions tailored to their specific equipment and industry needs. We offer a 15-day Dedicated Operator Course, aligned with the Skill India Development Mission, to elevate operator competencies on a larger scale, with subsidies ensuring accessibility to quality training. We also conduct in-house training sessions for upskilling operators.
We are employing a substantial number of women workers in our offices and manufacturing centres to empower them and encourage diversity in our company.
What will Conmat showcase at EXCON 2025?
Excon has always been a good showcase for launching our new products, and keeping the tradition, we are planning to display numerous pathbreaking products and technologies. These will include our new Excavator, Hydrostatic Loader with BS V Engine, Soil Compactor, a new range of Self-Loading Mixers with ARAI approved BS V Engine, with and without Swivel Drums. However, the highlight will be the demonstration of our sustainable solutions like our range of electrically operated Concrete Paving Machine, Concrete Pump, Self-Loading Mixer, Wheel Loader, Transit Mixer and Trailer Truck, which are completely designed, developed and tested in India using our own indigenously developed Drive System, and Motors without using Rare Earth Magnets. This will reduce the dependence on imports and bring down the cost of electric machines, making them more affordable and provide a much faster RoI for our customers.
