New Delhi-based (VMT) is catering to the project engineering cargo industry with its wide range of trailers. It was set up in 1960 to manufacture agriculture implements and machineries, but when opportunities began to arise in infrastructure development with a move towards precast construction, VMT ventured into manufacturing all kinds of trailers. In 2006, the company began manufacturing of hydraulic modular axle trailers as well. Hydraulic axle modular trailers are a robust platform with a series of wheels with hydraulic suspension and can be steered hydro mechanically. With this new product line, the company came to be counted amongst the prominent ODC cargo transporters in the country.
Discussing the new business opportunities ensuing from hydraulic axle modular trailers, Mr. Singh, says, "While demand is coming from the energy sector for moving ODC cargoes, a newly emerging segment is the renewable energy sector. In windmill farms, for instance, big nacelles and blades have to be moved, we (VMT) provide 52 meters Extendable Trailer for windmill blades. Many ODC transporters are offering their services to this sector, and we have been supplying approx. 200 Hydraulic Axle Modular trailers to them across the country. Our trailers are made of special alloys, which reduce the weight of the trailers such that the prime mover needs lesser traction, which, in turn, reduces fuel consumption. He informs that the company's state-of- the-art manufacturing facility at Binola Industrial Area near IMTManesar, Gurgaon, has a monthly production capacity of 70 axle, and more land is being acquired nearby to increase production.
