A. Faridi.

As the Indian construction industry is maturing, the uses of specialized construction equipment are also increasing day by day; how do you see the demand of Manitou’s product range in the country?
Manitou – Well Geared to Offer MH Solutions
We feel that the Indian construction industry is mature and yet evolving. As each project site, based on the project profile, needs a different mix of equipment and with most of the latest product/technology being available now in India, the construction industry is in trial and testing mode. Looking forward, we envisage a systematic material flow and handling process with well defined human-equipment interface to develop.

Manitou, being a world leader in all terrain material handling, is geared-up to offer material handling solutions to the customers’ in India. We offer single-window-solution for all the material handling required by industrial and construction sector backed by strong after sales support network.

What has been the market response of Maniscopic Rough Terrain telehandlers? How does it provide a comprehensive solution for all material handling application?
The market response has been overwhelming.

Our business philosophy in India is based on application and value selling model. We are sharing the best material handling practices with our customers prevalent in developed countries and as relevant to us in India.

Manitou's Maniscopic range offers the best value to the customers due to its capability to adapt handling requirements at the site. Being a multipurpose machine, within seconds, you can change your Maniscopic machine to handle bulk material, pallet handling, pick-n-carry crane, container or lorry stuffing/destuffing, grab for handling and placing any special shaped material, access platform etc.

Some of our customers were skeptic initially about the multipurpose capability offered by these machines but now after having invested in a unit, they are more convinced on this facet and are now working closely with our technical department to develop project/handling specific attach- ments. Manitou manufactures majority of these special attachments in-house and hence has created a unique position for itself, true to its single-window solution provider image.

What are the other range of telehandlers of the company meeting the specific needs of construction and mining sector and their competitive products positioning?
Manitou, being a world market leader in Maniscopic (telehandlers), offer the widest range of telehandlers.

We offer lifting height from 4m to 30m with lift capacity varying from 1500 to 22,500kgs. Besides, we offer both the fixed boom and Rotative/Slew Maniscopic machine.

In the telehandler Industry, there is a saying….. if you have a requirement… Manitou has a product to offer….

Manitou – Well Geared to Offer MH Solutions

Tell us something about Manitou and its operation in India.
India is one of the focused markets for Manitou; we have recently established Manitou South Asia (P) Ltd., (MIND) in India, a fully owned subsidiary of Manitou BF, France. To ensure better market development and to support our network, we have augmented our field strength in both sales and after sales.

We are offering Indian specific products, which meet the local emission norms while compiling the stringent safety norms as applicable in Europe.

For the CE sector, the year began with hype on CE growth. Soon the optimism turned into pessimism. Will the CE market go down with headwinds being quite strong at present?
We have a firm belief in India growth story and are of the opinion that these headwinds are more a resultant of depressed sentiments in the West. According to the revised numbers, this fiscal, our growth will be around 7 percent, which is still a respectable growth given the economic environment prevalent.

The new policy initiatives which are on the anvil, will provide much needed impetus for higher growth and a $1trillion investment envisaged in the next five years plan on Infrastructure, will give the rush of adrenaline to the CE sector. We feel the second leg of growth, post this nip, for CE and material handling sector would be more robust and buoyant.
