Kubota to build expertise in compact engines
Japanese compact engine manufacturing specialist, Kubota Corporation, will continue to add value to construction equipment with its compact engines. The company’s core expertise lies in manufacturing compact engines of 5kw to 157kw, which is its standard offering to markets across the world.
Kubota is now making advancements in the engines to make them adaptable to varied emission regulations across global markets, including the BS IV and BSV norms in India. It is also making improvisations in the common rail injection and also looking at the SCR utilization.
“Based on our customer engagements and their feedback, we will undertake some design changes, especially in our mid-range, so that our engines are ready for the upcoming emission norms and for other requirements in the future. We will also make some changes to optimize the engine combustion while retaining the block design,”commented Akihiko Adachi, Engine Global Marketing Dept-2, Market Development Group Manager, and Toshiyuki Taneda, GM-Engine Engineering Department.
While Kubota will be looking to offer its solutions to all construction equipment verticals in India, one of the prime solutions will be for light trucks and mini excavators.“Since OEMs are looking to offer more intelligence-based solutions that enable higher availability of the equipment and reliable performance, we will also modify our engine software from time to time. We have the expertise in not only diesel but also petrol, natural gas and LPG engines, and will now explore business possibility in hybrid engines, which could be a mix of diesel and battery variants,” they added.
