KCC Buildcon Expanding Footprints Across States

Shivraj Kundu
Terex machines are capable of producing high quality aggregates with greater capacity, thus, enabling us to claim bonus on early completion of projects and also save on overhead charges, says Shivraj Kundu, Co-founder & MD, KCC Buildcon.

What is your view of the Government's development plans for India's Infrastructure?

In the union budget 2017-18, the Government of India has given a massive push to Infrastructure development by allocating $61.92 billion to the sector. Out of all the Infra sectors, construction and development projects in roads and highways have witnessed the highest growth in recent decades, and in my view, they will grow at a faster pace in the coming years as compared to the other sectors.

How has KCC Buildcon grown over the years?

We have grown our business from road construction to highway construction and developed expertise in Bridge and Runway projects. Currently, we have major ongoing projects in Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Delhi NCR. Our operations in different parts of the country has involved technical and managerial skills, and has enabled us to perform all challenging tasks efficiently.

What technical know-how and high-tech equipment does KCC Buildcon use?

There is immense pressure to complete projects in time, and this obviously requires technologically advanced and reliable machinery. Our purchase teams are always exploring different options for executing projects, while maintaining the requisite quality parameters and completion timelines.

Since you have your own quarry, what is your aggregate requirement and the crushing plants you have in your fleet?

In terms of economics, it's always beneficial to have your own crushing plant for bigger projects in highway construction. Apart from three Complete Finlay sets, we are also operating Metso wheeled and track crushing plant. Our company also owns a 300 tph Terex wheeled plant.

You have recently procured the third Terex Finlay crushing plant; what are the key features and benefits of Terex products? We received our first Terex Finlay plant set in 2011 and it has crossed 10,000 hours mark so far. These are highly reliable machines. The recent plant includes an added pre-screen version of Finlay cone crushers that has increased the quality and production significantly.

Terex Finlay C-1540 Cone crushers features several benefits such as hydrostatic drive, rapid set-up time, higher reduction ratio and output capacity. Also, the Terex Finlay J-1175 Jaw Crusher comes with unique reversible operation for clearing blockages and a fully hydraulic adjustable CSS option.

The environment is highly competitive and we are continuously working to execute projects within the prescribed budget limit. These machines are capable of producing high quality aggregates with greater capacity, thus, enabling us to claim bonus on early completion of projects and also save on overhead charges. Owning a track mounted crusher enables us to mobilize the complete crushing plant quickly near the required sites, thus, saving huge haulage cost of the aggregates.

What has been your experience of Terex after-sales service including operator training?

Terex Finlay machines have an advanced electronic control system that helps not only in quick diagnosis of any problem but also provides information for optimal plant maintenance and operation, hence, reducing the downtime significantly. Operator training programs by Terex provide the necessary skills to our crusher operators and supervisors. The continuous support from the Terex service and support team has kept our machines running and enabling project completions before time.
