How do you see your business growing in India and how is the company gearing up to cater to the increasing demand from the construction and mining sectors?
HD Hyundai India has been operating in India for 17 years and it continues to be an important market for us in view of the strong demand for construction equipment. During 2024, sales from our Indian operations were rated third, contributing significantly to our global sales. We are well prepared to meet the evolving market requirements and have launched more products to meet the growing demand. The tagline of our products is 'Comfort Intelligence', in accordance with which we develop tech-rich features that enable optimum usage, while ensuring operator comfort for higher productivity.
HD Hyundai India has an active fleet of 50,000 excavators in India, giving us a strong brand recall amidst the competition. Demand is especially strong in states like Maharashtra and Karnataka, for our 245 LR, 24-ton excavator used for special tasks like well digging, while our higher capacity HX 360 of 36 tons is designed for use in mining and in large quarries. Our 20-ton excavator has been given a complete facelift, making it more durable; it now has more safety features, and an operator cabin that offers more comfort and has better aesthetics.
We are very bullish on our mini excavators which have been seeing growing interest over the years due to their compact size, efficient performance, safety, and versatility across diverse applications. Some of the applications of this compact and highly manoeuvrable machine are digging, lifting, and material handling in urban infra development projects. We are also confident that our new BS V compliant 3.5 - ton wheel loader will also garner a lot of interest in the construction sector.
What are your plans for expanding your manufacturing capabilities?
We are expanding our manufacturing facility in Pune and modernizing it to make it a world-class facility. We will scale up its production to meet the growing demand and increase our exports. HD Hyundai India is exporting to about 45 countries from the Pune facility. The new factory will be a ‘smart factory’ equipped with advanced machines and production processes and technologies for optimised production. We will ensure higher availability of our equipment with IoT and AI tools, which will identify any defects in the machineries during production.

What is the company’s 'Takshila' learning program?
Our 'Takshila' learning program is designed to enrich our customers’ experience. Led by our dealers and based on customers’ feedback, we are offering the Takshila operator training program as part of our customer support. Under the program, we give comprehensive training aimed at educating users on the proper operation of our machines, the safety protocols, and routine maintenance procedures. This helps streamline maintenance procedures to enhance the operational efficiency of our machines.
What pre-sales support does the company provide to customers to help them evaluate the competitive worthiness of your products?
Through our E-sales tools and assisted by our dealers, we help customers evaluate the performance of our machines alongside the competitive products. For this, we present various application studies, allowing the customers to benchmark the performance of our products, including fuel efficiency, productivity, and other working parameters. This helps potential clients to work out their own calculations on equipment performance before making a purchase decision.
