Choudhary and Brothers
In regions like Europe, US, and Japan, the rental market thrives due to structured systems, standardized practices, and widespread awareness of rental benefits. For India to reach that level, there is a need for increased awareness campaigns, better financing options, and adoption of global best practices.

We are collaborating with institutes and partnering with vocational training centers to create a steady pipeline of skilled manpower. We also offer attractive wages and benefits to retain talent.
From a client’s perspective, having operators along with the machinery is critical, as it ensures optimal performance and reduces the burden of sourcing skilled personnel. By providing trained operators, we enhance the overall rental experience for our clients.
Our aim is to advance the equipment rental industry in India by addressing key challenges, adopting technological advancements, and fostering strong relationships with clients and OEMs.

Please give an overview of the Equip- ment Rental Market in India.
India’s equipment rental market is evolving, with significant demand stemming from infrastructure development, urbanization, and industrial projects. Renting equipment offers several benefits like reduced capital expenditure, flexibility in operations, and access to the latest machinery without the burden of ownership.
However, the market faces challenges that hinder its full potential. Many contractors, especially in Tier 2 & 3, cities are unaware of the long-term cost-effectiveness of renting over purchasing. Plus, the market is highly fragmented, with a mix of organized and unorganized players, leading to inconsistent pricing and quality standards.
There are maintenance and service issues with smaller players often struggling to maintain equipment at an optimal level, which affects the reliability of rentals. There are some regulatory hurdles as, unlike developed regions, India lacks a structured framework for equipment rental, which affects transparency and accountability.

What is the role of a self-regulatory framework led by industry players and organizations such as CERA, COAOI, and APAOI, and what challenges can it address?
A self-regulatory framework led by industry players and organizations such as CERA, COAOI, and APAOI can address core challenges like transparency, pricing, and quality assurance. Such an initiative could standardize practices by establishing guidelines for equipment maintenance, pricing benchmarks, and rental terms, which would create a level playing field.
It can build a transparent system fosters trust between rental companies and clients, reducing disputes, and regular inspections and certifications which can ensure high equipment quality and safety. Setting up a framework with mechanisms for grievance redressal, will protect both rental companies and contractors from malpractices.
By adopting such measures, the sector can increase confidence among stakeholders and attract more developers and contractors to embrace rentals. A self-regulatory framework and enhanced industry practices can unlock the true potential of the rental market, ensuring sustainable growth for all stakeholders.
