Ashok Leyland Unveils Next-Generation Compact Engine Series

Ashok Leyland has launched its new P15 (49 & 55 HP) and H4 Unipack (55 & 74 HP) engines, engineered to deliver high performance, superior efficiency, and long-term reliability across off-highway and industrial applications. Fully compliant with the latest CEV Stage V emission norms, these engines are built at world-class manufacturing facilities to global quality standards, reflecting Ashok Leyland’s commitment to innovation, customer-focused engineering, and India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The P15 engine is ideal for compact machines such as skid-steer loaders, mini compactors, sweepers, and forklifts. It offers strong pulling power in a lightweight, compact design, ensuring high performance with reduced fuel consumption. Customers can also opt for a high-speed non-emission variant (up to 3300 rpm) for faster operations or a CNG version for cleaner energy.

The H4 Unipack (55 & 74 HP) is designed for demanding applications such as backhoe loaders. With high-altitude performance capability (up to 5,500 meters) and reliable cold starts, the H4 series is built for tough working conditions while meeting stringent emission standards—making it ideal for rugged industrial environments.

Speaking at the launch, Amandeep Singh, President – LCV, International Operations, Defence & Power Solutions, said, “Our customers need solutions that keep their operations running smoothly and cost-effectively. For off-highway mobile and stationary equipment, the company offers liquid-cooled 4-stroke engines (emission and non-emission) with fans to flywheel and mounting legs, high-capacity spin-on lube oil and fuel filters (500-hour charge intervals), a charging alternator and starter motor, AI engine sensors, turbocharger, and intercooler (model-dependent).

The company’s CNG and LNG engines, along with its range of internal combustion engines, deliver consistent power for faster duty cycles. “There is demand for higher duty cycles and lower operating costs for better RoI, so we are developing more efficient engines to deliver these attributes,” said Sathyanandan M.
