Apollo Techno Showcases India-Made Diaphragm Wall Rig
“We have already sold eight units of this foundation machine, which are being used by contractors for constructing basements in shopping malls, river wall boundaries, and similar projects. The feedback has been encouraging, and we plan to introduce further modifications to enhance its performance,” informed Keyur Raval, Manager – Sales & Marketing.
The DW 235, featuring an undercarriage designed and manufactured by Apollo India, is powered by a Caterpillar (USA)-made engine. It is equipped with a dual-acting cylinder for enhanced performance and a robust grab body offering versatile interchangeability in the 400–800 mm range. The machine also features a square kelly bar fabricated from a single piece of high-strength steel.
The grab offers a maximum excavation depth of 30 m, with a trench length ranging from 2,200 to 2,500 mm. The machine provides a kelly inclination of ±45 degrees, while the maximum closing force is rated at 120 tonnes.
Also on display were the company’s A Series and Gen-2 series of horizontal directional drills (HDDs). Said Raval, “The Gen-2 series, powered by a Caterpillar engine and equipped with advanced hydraulics and innovative features, enables ease of operation with lower operating costs, even in challenging ground conditions. Customers experience minimal machine downtime.”
Additional features of the Gen-2 series include a futuristic interactive display that provides real-time connectivity with a walk-over locating system, allowing operators instant access to critical drilling information. Enhanced safety features include full-length glass cabins for unobstructed visibility of the drilling area, while the ergonomic layout improves focus and reduces operator fatigue.
Apollo’s A Series horizontal directional drilling machines deliver high torque, with tonnage ranging from 5 to 180 tonnes, backed by 6,000 psi hydraulic pressure for greater power. Their compact footprint and robust design make the rigs both efficient and powerful. The series incorporates the latest technological advancements, with machines capable of working at speeds ranging from 120 m/hr to 180 m/hr. The company also offers an add-on mud pump, powered by a dedicated engine, to further enhance rig performance.
The A Series drills are available in open-type configurations as well as with specialised cabins (as seen on the A1000 HDD and A1200 HDD), offering improved visibility and higher productivity.
Apollo Techno’s automatic machines are manufactured at the company’s facility located on the Ahmedabad–Mehsana Highway. The company has over 830 horizontal drilling units operating across India.
