Envisaging high demand this fiscal, excavator manufacturers are designing and developing more advanced equipment that meets end-users’ expectations for higher fuel efficiency and productivity. Improvements are being made in the motors and hydraulic systems, structures are being made more robust, and the cabs more comfortable for operators. Manufacturers are also enhancing product support and services to increase the uptime of their machines. P.P. Basistha discusses the current market scenario with excavator manufacturers
Tata Hitachi, Volvo CE, LiuGong India, Kobelco, Schwing Stetter - XCMG, JCB India and CASE.
Project contractors are looking for innovative technologies, materials, and equipment that will enhance productivity, reduce the overall project cost, and enable timely completion of jobs. With competition increasing in the construction sector, the need for product differentiation is being felt across the industry.
Excavator manufacturers are also adding value to their product offerings by making them more versatile through attachments like crusher bucket, vibratory roller attachment, concrete cutting, shearing machines, hydraulic hammers etc so that they can perform various tasks in different terrains and under all kinds of working conditions. And by incorporating Telematics in their excavators, manufacturers are assuring customers of higher machine uptime and more productivity.
Excavators demand is expected to remain buoyant during FY 2023-24. Demand will be largely propelled by construction of roads and expressways, urban infrastructure, housing projects, irrigation projects, increase in mining activities etc. As per industry estimates, demand for excavators is likely to grow 15% more compared to the last fiscal.
